About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To hike all the hikes, see all the sights and taste all the foods at least once!

ABOUT ME

I'm a wanderer and doer by nature. Hike 20 miles into the desert? Sure, why not? Backyard chickens? I'll try it. Like a lot of CSers, I love to travel. I've been to a lot of great places, but there are so many more in the world. I'm not about tourist traps, I'm about real life in a different town, state, hemisphere.

PHILOSOPHY

Follow your bliss! Because following your "meh" is really, really boring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to pay my great experiences forward by being a friendly face in a new town for others. Portland has so much to offer, and a lot of it's hidden gems are tucked away, so being able to point out the local wonders makes me happy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was in grad school, I ended up interning in some great cities, and couldn't have done it if my friends hadn't opened their hearts and homes to me.

Interests

I love to swim, cook, hike and backpack, and enjoy experiencing life off the grid.

In my quiet moments, I love to read and knit.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm currently reading Jim Butcher's Dresden files and loving the books. I've read George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series to the current book.

As far as movies go, Lord of the Rings is my all time favorite.

With the exception of Country and Rap, my musical tastes span from Bluegrass to Blue Man Group.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've hiked into the Grand Canyon, up to the top of Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens, and cooked an entire beef wellington without breaking down.

Teach, Learn, Share

With my archaeology background, I can tell you if that thing from your backyard is a priceless artifact or not. Not to disappoint, but usually not. I'm also pretty handy with cooking, and I'm confident I can teach anyone to poach an egg the hard way.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Ireland, Mexico, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
