About Me

Ah, the blank page... Is there anything more daunting?
I wouldn't say I prefer the road less traveled but I love to wander down pathways unknown. My next journey will be on a container ship (freighter) from Hong Kong to New York. I don't know what to expect, whether there will be other passengers, or even whether I get seasick, but I am excited to see the sea. I am most excited about the Suez Canel, passing Gibralter, crossing the North Atlantic and sailing into NY!

I live in Melbourne - for all my travels, still one of the best cities in the world. I have two goldfish - they are 6 years old. I love music but I have still not managed to learn the guitar - I am a huge disappointment to myself. My house is filled with books, although my reading ambitions are always greater than my dedication to the pursuit.

My happy place is my 'country property', an empty acre where I stay in a caravan called Jemima on weekends. One day I will be able to afford something more permanent but for now, I mow the grass, plant natives and watch the sky and stars between the gum trees.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced to couch surfing by an ex. We had a few surfers at our little flat and they were all great. I don't have the space in my flat now to have surfers but maybe one day when I build the country estate!

I couch-surfed around Iceland which was such a great way to meet locals and learn a bit more about the place. It will always be an amazing country but I think the surfing made it so much better for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am one of the founders of Angazia (www.angazia.com). We make clean energy and water affordable to poor communities in Kenya using savings groups. We've already done a couple of proof of concept trips but now my business partner and I are seeking funding for a full-scale pilot project. If you or anyone you know would like to help us I am always happy to talk about it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can do a cryptic crossword, touch my nose with my tongue and I am pretty good at computers...
