Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
trying to understand as much as possible of this world..
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Elise, quite new to CS. I am originally from the Netherlands but have been abroad for some time. I am currently doing a PhD in biology.
My passions are nature, travelling, camping, photography... having fun, feeling alive! And dreaming... and making these dreams come true:)!
PHILOSOPHY
I would like to make the world a better place.. both by doing science, and trying to help conservation issues.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to travel in a much nicer way than most people do as tourists in hotels and such. It's so much nicer to experience travelling with others, and see the place with eyes of locals. I hope also to be able to host people in my place and try to show them the place where I live.
You're very welcome to meet me any time for a coffee or drink:)! (Although I sometimes have no time with studies)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am still new to CS, although I have stayed over in many others places before without couchsurfing during hitch-hiking and travelling. It's great to meet new people!

Music, Movies, and Books
so many..!
I generally like music with a good melody (classical, jazz, downtempo..), movies with a good story, showing real people (no Hollywood people/scenarios).. and I love natural history documentaries.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending two summers in Spitsbergen, in the most northern village in the world. Having polar foxes under my hut with young cubs.. standing close to walruses, hearing the breath of a polar bear.. hearing the increased melting of huge glaciers as thunder-noise in the background, while you do your fieldwork. Maybe the best experience was swimming with belugas for more than an hour, listening to their singing and breathing and swimming between their bubble-nets.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Faroe Islands, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, United Kingdom
