ABOUT ME

Elise and Blake are twenty-somethings, recently married, and ready to explore the world. Separately, Elise has traveled a bit around Europe, Africa, and Oceania, and both of us are eager to continue ticking destinations off our mutual bucket lists.

We get along with pretty much anyone, and we're both laid back and friendly people. Blake is an advisor in the banking industry and Elise works in social media, but outside of our careers, you'll likely find us outside hiking with our golden doodle Evie (named after the pokemon), or hanging out on a patio at a local pub.

We love exploring new places, meeting new friends, and learning about different cultures around the world. We've had a lot of experience hosting couchsurfers - a few years back we dedicated an entire summer to hosting couchsurfers pretty much every weekend, and we made a lot of great connections with our guests during that time.

We're excited to be on the surfing side, and we look forward to meeting our future hosts and getting to know you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So far we have had great experiences with couchsurfing. Though we have not surfed yet ourselves, we have hosted a number of guests and it's been tremendously rewarding. It has been a wonderful community of people, and we enjoy the friendly atmosphere it provides when we are hosting. The people we have met have been so interesting and friendly, and we are glad we signed up and joined the couchsurfing community.

Interests

We are interested in all sorts of things, from great books to political discussions to sports and leisure to cooking or music; we love it all and are constantly expanding our horizons.

Music, Movies, and Books

Elise is a huge Harry Potter fan and loves a great fantasy novel, however other great reads she has enjoyed have been Animal Farm, Lord of the Rings, and the Hunger Games trilogy. Since working/schoolwork has taken precedence in recent years, however, Elise spends more of her time perusing Netflix and finding strange movies to watch (preferably zombie movies). Some of her all-time favourites are Gladiator, Ace Ventura, Jurassic Park, Moulin Rouge, Dawn of the Dead (either one), and Mean Girls.

Blake is also a fan of the Harry Potter books and Hunger Games trilogy, however recently he has come to like anything written by Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris. His favourite movies include The Prestige, A Beautiful Mind, Her, Fight Club, and of course, Forrest Gump. His list of favourite movies is always changing and he loves to discuss all kinds of movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Blake was on Canada's national badminton team, and Elise wrote and defended an award-nominated graduate thesis about stand up comedy.

Teach, Learn, Share

Blake is quite the chef and is definitely more talented in the kitchen. Elise enjoys playing the guitar, viola, piano and she love to sing, especially with other people. Together, we are athletic, fun, and willing to try anything once!
