About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life and be happy!

ABOUT ME

My best friends would say that I'm a marf, a word my friends made up just for me. It generally means goofy, clumsy, and ridiculous. I won't go into the etymology here (ask me for the story), but do know that it's a pretty accurate description. I'm a big ol' goof.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel like it's constantly evolving as I learn and live more, but a few basic things have stayed the same. Being open to experiences and people around you ensures that wonderful things will happen. Don't close yourself off. Always be willing to listen; you'll learn a lot more that way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, just learning about the CS community, planning future travels, and attending CS events in Prague!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, unfortunately

Interests

Things I generally dig: discussions about gender, journalism, travel writing (and ethics that go along with it), feminist theory, cooking, traveling, reading, writing, hiking, anything 90s, thrift store shopping, biking, big ideas.

I'm a bit of a dreamer and I'm always thinking about the next step in my life. I'm a news junkie, and you can find me scanning news stories at any time of day. Twitter is very dangerous for me.

I genuinely love meeting and getting to know new people, so don't be afraid to get in touch!

Music, Movies, and Books

Some random favorite films are Hook, Spirited Away, Chungking Express, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Brazil, Rushmore, and When Harry Met Sally.

I love alternative rock and classic rock. Some folk and bluegrass, too. I would attend multiple music festivals a year if I could afford it. For the last few years I've gone to Sasquatch Music Festival at the Columbia River gorge with my best friends. It is the absolute greatest. I love discovering new music, or music that's new to me, at least.

I love reading books, but I rarely have time to read for fun with all of my school reading. Some of my favorite fiction writers are J.D. Salinger, David Sedaris, Barbara Kingsolver, Toni Morrison, and Jonathan Safran Foer. I enjoy a bit of non-fiction, too, especially historical stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was on a safari in Ghana in the summer of 2011, me and my friends got mock-charged by a wild elephant, which was amazing and terrifying all at once.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some musical lessons, gardening, how to have fun even when you're broke/near broke..
