About Me
*** Disclaimer : hosts in Amsterdam tend to receive about 10 requests a day. Send me a request / message (same to me) ONLY if you have read everything here, and feel that we would get along. And please tell me why. You get it, the "Hi (wrong name), we are 5 guys and we can sleep on your floor we come to party wooohooo!!!" type-of-message will be dismissed.
Also. My partner and I have a BnB, so paying guests. Therefore we rarely have couchsurfers but that can happen, only at low-season or during weekdays. Have a look: www.firejuice.amsterdam You are also welcome to book, but we are on CS here so I won't ask anyone who sends a message to pay :) Either it's available for free, or it's not.****
About me:
After marketing and politics studies in Paris then working there in a bank for a while, I realized that life wasn't for me. So I quit and began to enjoy a more uncertain and hectic life made of travels, discoveries, challenges, different jobs. I have lived in Marseille, Montréal, Lille and I am now in love with Amsterdam where I intend to stay in the long-term. Every day life here consists in volunteering with awesome people to make the world a better place, hosting people and watching them enjoy our vegan breakfast, hanging out in surprising, alternative places, enjoying good time with friends and loved ones, getting involved in all kinds of shenanigans, gardening, etc etc. I usually feel very busy, or very lazy.
Movement, change, new encounters and adventures don't seem to be as necessary as before, now that I am "settled down" somewhere for good, surrounded by people I love. However they always make me feel good. Strangers' kindness, hitch-hiking, unexpected situations, discoveries and writing about all that used to be some of my drugs. These days I am more often the driver than the hitch-hiker, and the kind stranger than the person in need. It feels just as good!
Besides that, I love to connect with random people, to dance, to experience intense timestretch or hectic adventures, to explore the vast worlds of the mind and body. With time passing and growing "older", I also like to set good habits, getting better at a skill, seeing cycles completed and seasons coming back.
A few keywords that may ring a bell for some of you : queer, polyamorous, hippie-ish, nudist-ish, activist-ish. Lots of of ishes, lots of shades between black and white. Nothing is set in stone.
"Je crois qu'il y a un visage du monde qui nous est dérobé, qu'on peut apprendre à palper par petites touches, et qui repose dans une sorte d'harmonie parfaite." (Nicolas Bouvier)
Then ... Whatever works.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been a CS member since 2008, when it was an ugly functional website. Since then I have hosted many lovely people and stayed with even more lovely people. Some of them have changed the course of my life.
I really enjoy the intensity that comes with a CS experience, when crazy unexpected adventures happen and leave both host and guest with a "wow!" long-lasting feeling.
Interests
I was amazed every day by people's kindness when I was traveling solo in Canada and the US. I never thought that the world would take care of every single need I had the way it did. Now I try to be the provider whenever it feels right and this happens through hosting people (with my BnB but also CS) and making them feel at home, sharing what I have and being a carebear once in a while.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love electronic musics that tickle your ears and make you perspire and vibrate, especially trance and glitchy things... Sunset or sunrise music, to dance to with a bunch of smiling strangers wearing their best costume and playing their favorite persona at a festival.
Psychedelic rock, cosmic jazz, trip-hop, some reggae, some traditional music from various cultures, some powerful and special voices.
Documentaries or movies where people are shown in a very touching and "real" way, with their crooked teeth and cute smiles: Taking off, Encounters at the end of the world, Tie-died, Dirty pictures, Human... Usually anything related to the psychedelic subcultures in the USA when I was not born yet. Yes, I would have gone to Monterrey if I was around in 1967.
Books : anything that make you travel in time/space, from novels by J Riel to french classics, fiction and non-fiction. [G Orwell, S King, A. Baricco, A. Maupin, B. Vian, G. Garcia-Marquez, N. Bouvier, Kundera, Steinbeck, Zola, Céline, Maillard, David-Néel, Kerouac, Huxley, London...] Some all-times favorites : Ocean Sea, Ravage, Voyage au bout de la nuit, L'Arrache-coeur, Keep the Aspidistra Flying, Pot-Bouille, Dans une chambre inconnue, It, To the unknown God, The Dharma Bums, Le Sabotage Amoureux, Love in times of cholera, The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, The Book on the taboo against knowing who you are, Be Here Now, The Body keeps the score.
Heroes list: Alice Coltrane, George Sand, Alan Watts.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Experience living is probably the best thing to share with someone, whatever it could be. Let's go out and dance to weird music. Come along to eat yummy cheap food in an alternative not-for-profit place. A bike ride in the flat-yet-charming countryside North of home.
And tell me about your best CS experiences please, I can do the same!
