About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just to get out of my hometown and visit new places, meet fun people and decide what I feel like doing each day, I'm really into just walking around places to get a feel for them without any plan, except to hopefully catch some music along the way!

ABOUT ME

I've always lived in Hobart, Tasmania, the little southern island. It's a small community I like, and I have some great great friends here! I live with 9 other friends in a sharehouse in town, it suits me brilliantly as there's always fun to be done, people to be around when in the mood, but it's also soso chilled and relaxed.

I've only recently started traveling overseas after having been to every capitol in Australia and a lot of the places in between. So far I've only gotten to Southeast Asia (great experience, too short a trip but a really good first overseas time), and New Zealand on a band tour.

I play music in a electronic-y-rock-y band called Tiger Choir (tigerchoir.bandcamp.com) that is a heapa fun, and has given me the opportunity to travel all over Australia and NZ with the greatest people - and we're hopefully going to make it overseas again soon !!

For now (end of 2011) I'm planning a one-month (Nov/Dec) trip on my own to the east coast of the USA, I'll probably spend most of my time in New York City (Brooklyn?) but might get over to Chicago or somewhere closer for a week or so. It'd be incredible to get to meet people who know the place and feel like showing me where to get good coffee and bagels or beer or something!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I plan to become more involved, I can show anyone around Hobart as they're visiting and hope to get to meet people surfing through my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to the site myself but a housemate at a previous residence had a profile and we hosted a surfer in 2010 at our house in South Hobart, I've also met a lot of surfers before - we even once had a Irish and German pair stay at Tiger Choir drummer Sam's house, sit in on a band practice and make mulled wine with us, it was great great fun and we caught up with the German guy Friederman again on a band trip to Melbourne!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've toured all over Australia, NZ and (hopefully soon) further overseas playing and seeing music to and with some great crowds. We toured this year with Deerhunter and The Drums and they were both brilliant and I learned a lot and had great fun on those trips. I think being involved in music like this is the most worthwhile experience I've had, meeting everyone along the way and seeing some great bands !!!
