About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding quality, in interactions with people, in the tasks we engage in, the things we make.

ABOUT ME

We are good listeners, and curious. We like to play cards, eat yummy food, and hear your stories. Right now we are on a world wandering. Pip just finished school and Yaya is taking a year off. We are travelling from Shanghai to Germany, with many stops and detours along the way. We are leaving Thailand now and on the way to India. We have farmed, camped, slept on trains and boats, eaten endless bowls of noodle soup, learned a little bit of five different languages, climbed mountains, meditated, read a lot of books and written a lot of pages.... Sometimes we are thrilled with surprise, sometimes we are bored. It's been, and promises to be, a continued journey.

PHILOSOPHY

Breathing is just a rhythm.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are newbies! Excited to find out what this is for us. Cultivating the sabadee philosophy- it's all good. sharing, being excited about whatever is.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have not couchsurfed yet. are excited for the possibilities! We started hearing about it from other travelers on the road and like the ideas behind it. Mutual sharing of ideas, food, couches. We seek grounded interactions with real people, and we tire of the lovely (and not) surface interactions with waitresses, taxi drivers.... We hope to host people when we return to our homes back in the states!

Interests

We are out to see new ways of being from people who are in different places. We love learning new things. Pip does theater design, and Yaya does farming, and we both love seeing theater, working on construction projects, growing food, cooking, talking about ideas, walking around cities.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books first because we are inhaling them on this trip: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Wicked, Around the World in 80 Days, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Just Kids, The Femenine Mystique. Movies: Closer, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, V For Vendetta, The Resident Evil Trilogy, Dr Who, Dollhouse. Music: Wir Sind Helden, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dispatch, Regina Spektor, The Stray Birds

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The last few weeks: seeing the vang vieng caves, the power lines in Hanoi, silk weaving workshop in Luang Prabang, the amazing work of chiropractic healing, masaman curry, sabadee-- it's all good, learning to dispel many years of engrained anxiety.

Teach, Learn, Share

Currently learning to quiet the hectic mind, and not just by quieting my life. Cultivating surprise. We like to learn how to do things. We know our version of construction (we can help you design something for your house!), cooking, growing food, playing cards. We want to share our way and learn yours, and create superfusion! Also love languages!
