Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill studying Environmental Health, Math, and Energy and the Environment. I'm an avid whitewater kayaker, telemark skier, hiker, and astronomer. I also enjoy photography, videography, reading and traveling. So far, I've had the incredible opportunity to travel to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Peru, Cambodia, Turkey, Nepal, Mexico, and Canada, and I hope to go to the Netherlands and Portugal!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm couch surfing in an effort to be able to connect with the places I have the opportunity to visit in more than a superficial manner. To that end, I hope to participate in a variety of local events that fall off of the traditional tourist radar. I'm also hoping to meet interesting and dynamic people who also strive to travel in a more unorthodox way.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite movie is The Italian Job from 2003 and my favorite book(s) are The Book Thief, Moby Dick, How Bad do You Want It?, Boys in the Boat, and I am an Emotional Creature. My favorite artists -- because songs are next to impossible -- are Neil Young, Jackson Browne, the Talking Heads, the Grateful Dead, and Taylor Swift.
Teach, Learn, Share
Although early on in my professional development, I'm happy to share my introductory knowledge of the impacts of climate change, as well as a variety of potential mitigation strategies or techniques. I'm also happy to discuss political events and challenges -- particularly on an international level. Over the course of the six months, I've also become an enthusiastic cook and am happy to share my knowledge of breakfast, Mexican, or Turkish meals.
In terms of learning, I hope to gain a better understanding of international social and economic attitudes regarding the effects of climate change or, more generally, U.S. politics. I would also hope to learn the best places for coffee or spicy food.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I consistently maintain a spirit of enthusiasm and curiosity. I also bring a level of commitment and sincere honesty to exploring each place I have the opportunity to visit. More practically perhaps, I can offer a wide variety of meals for breakfast or dinner, as well as a passion for baked goods.
