About Me
Hi I'm Eliza. I've been travelling long-term with my husband Chris for over two years. What an incredible experience it has been. Travel has open our horizons. We've explored amazing cultures, seen stunning sights, meet wonderful people and had the opportunity to experience life though a different lens.
We're friendly, laid back, respectful and open to new experiences.
Eliza is the planner and food researcher. She is mostly likely to be found chowing down on a must try local food.
Chris is the photographer and is most likely to be found wandering around with camera in hand.
Food is one of our favourite way to connect with a new culture. We are always on the lookout for the best local food wherever we are in the world. Our quest has taken us to amazing street food markets, in to people’s homes and restaurants where the only way we can order is by pointing. We’ve walked for miles in search of an elusive, must-try dish. And we love to take cooking classes and food tours. Chris is a pescatarian which creates challenges in some parts of the world.
Life is a journey. There are forks in the path at every turn and forks in our hands (well sometimes spoons, chopsticks or nothing at all) as we make our way around the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We're new to Couchsurfing. A friend we met whilst travelling suggested we try it as it fits so perfectly with our preferred way of travel. You won’t find us staying in a hotel - a homestay is our favourite place to rest our heads.
We love to explore places through the eyes of those who live there. The best places we've stayed have been where we've had an opportunity to get to know our host, the local way of life and fellow travellers - especially while sharing stories and experiences over delicious food and a glass of wine!
If it all goes well, we'll be opening our home to surfers when we return to London.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In October 2015 we quit our jobs, rented the house out, packed two backpacks and bought a one way ticket to India. Since then we’ve been on an incredible journey, exploring the sights, seeking responsible wildlife encounters, taking art classes, indulging in adventure sports and filling our bellies with delicious local foods.
Highlights include:
Volunteering with Wildlife Act in South Africa. We spent an incredible month monitoring endangered species, compiling photo ID kits and collecting data with a bunch of fantastic volunteers and devoted wildlife monitors.
Swimming with millions of stingless jellyfish in Indonesia.
Diving in the incredibly colourful Komodo National Park.
A multiday hike in the Annapurna's of Nepal. Waking up to a view of the ethereal glistening Himalayas was breathtaking.
Explore cultures through food - from cooking classes and food tours to sharing dishes with hosts and seeking out the best street food.
