Overview
About Me
Hiii, I'm a friendly, native-New Yorker (western part of the state), who recently took a break from social work and life in the states to experience another culture and attempt to become fluent in Spanish. I moved to southern Spain in January 2016 to work as an au pair with a family of three. I recently finished that job, and would like to see more of Spain and western Europe before I return home in August.
March 2017 update: I am now back in Rochester, New York and would like to return the Couchsurfing favor by offering up my place for guests, if timing works out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of exchanging ideas/perspectives, learning how other people/cultures operate, and sharing resources with each other. We all have something to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music- I generally gravitate toward indie/folk/experimental music, but can thoroughly enjoy most genres. I just can't deny a solid beat, an intense buildup, or poetic lyrics. I find these qualities in artists such as: mewithoutYou, Gungor, Sufjan Stevens, Manchester Orchestra, Dan Deacon, Chris Bathgate, and so many more.
Movies- I appreciate films with psychological twists, and/or those that keep me thinking afterwards. I like a good documentary, and dramas and (funny) comedies. I would definitely re-watch: Lars and the Real Girl, Moonrise Kingdom, Dumb and Dumber, Twinsters, or Catch Me if you Can.
Books- I enjoy books that inspire me and/or help cultivate my faith. I like memoirs, books about theology/Christianity and psychology. Some of the books I want everyone to read are: The Hiding Place, Loves Does, and the Giver.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Finished social work grad school. Woof.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love learning about other people and cultures, and would like to get to know the hosts and exchange whatever we want about our passions, experiences, beliefs, etc. I've picked up a good deal of Spanish while living in Murcia, and could share what I know about the language (English, too). If a host has a piano I could play a few tunes and/or teach the basics about the instrument. I enjoy cooking and could prepare a meal for us to share.
