About Me

Hi there! I'm an avid traveler with a passion for meeting new people and exploring the great outdoors. My journeys have taken me throughout Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, where I've had the pleasure of experiencing diverse cultures and connecting with amazing individuals.
I thrive on new experiences and love sharing stories about life and adventures. For me, the best things in life are free – whether it's a deep conversation with an interesting person, a beautiful view on a hike, or dancing the night away to the rhythms of salsa and bachata.
When I'm not on the move, you can find me indulging in my love for gardening or enjoying simple, budget-friendly fun. I'm always up for a chat and eager to meet fellow travelers who share a zest for life and adventure.
Looking forward to connecting with you and sharing some unforgettable experiences!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have a very close friend in Trinidad who has been couchsurfing since around 2005. Hearing about their incredible experiences and the connections they've made along the way fascinated me and inspired me to sign up. I was fortunate enough to meet some Couchsurfers and share time and experiences with them through my friend, who always encouraged me to join the community. However, at the time, I wasn't traveling much, and whenever I did, I had plenty of friends and family throughout the Americas to stay with.
Now, as I prepare to cross the Atlantic for the first time, primarily for business and personal development, I find myself eager to explore new places and meet new people from a local perspective rather than just as a tourist. Working remotely gives me the flexibility to travel more freely and embrace opportunities I once only dreamed of.
Couchsurfing seems like the perfect way to see more of the world on a low budget, allowing me to connect with locals and truly experience the culture of each place I visit. I'm excited to embark on this journey, make new friends, and share memorable experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love "back in Times" music which would include music of the 80s, 90s and even adult contemporary like music from the 60s and 70s. I love soca which is the genre of music we create at Carnival in Trinidad but overall I love to dance so I like pretty much all types of music. I especially like Latin Dancing. I am mostly into self help books like The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and books written by Depak Chopra. I love Khalil Gibran and in particular The Prophet. I like all kinds of movies but mostly action and mystery. But a movie that I enjoyed a lot was The Intouchables and any other show tarring Omar Sy I also like movies based on true stories about courageous women and or activists like Harriet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have managed to homeschool 2 and a half amazing Bilingual Kids singlehandedly who are now making an indelible mark on the world each in their own way. One is an alternative educator now doing her PHD in Caribbean Studies, one is a dancer/assistant backstage director in New York who studied at Fordham University with the Alvin Ailey School of Dance and the last is working towards entering Vet school

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach about life in the Caribbean and Latin America. I have travelled extensively throughout the Americas and met amazing people and learnt many things about their culture and lives I can share about my life as a Trinidadian female coming from a middle class background and what that I like and I teach ESL and Spanish as well. I can also teach Peer counselling and have been a member of the Re-Evaluation counselling community for over 30 years. I also do parenting classes and parent support groups.
I would love to learn more firsthand about the lives of people across the Atlantic. I love learning languages for sure and in particular French and Portuguese and maybe even some Italian
I would love to share my space in Trinidad when I get back and show my country and I'm even willing to offer my skills as a Spanish English interpreter for people wanting to travel to Latin American countries and need an interpreter .

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share information about culture and life on an island in the Caribbean. What excites me about being Trinidadian and how Caribbean people have contributed to some of the most amazing things that people are not generally aware. Stories about life as a single parent. Successes and challenges. What I have learnt about life as a black Caribbean working class single mother form a developing country. Ask me, there is so much I can share.
