About Me

Hi, I’m brand new to this couchsurfing. I guess I’m an aging punk with boatloads of openmindedness and a tinge of bitter, saltiness (but that comes out in humor, right?). I live with 2 lovely cats and am always itching to travel. I work booking live music at a smaller venue in Madison and also run live sound and bartend.
I mostly book punk, metal and experimental stuff but also run the gamut of almost anything.
I’m a late night person, hence the job(s) but am also respectful and quiet and adaptable, especially when traveling.
I’m interested in the usual cliches: traveling more, seeing the world, tasting new foods, but also meeting genuinely funny people, meeting people who know how to balance the line between having their shit together and letting completely go. I’m needing to let completely let go without falling over a cliff.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m very interested in traveling more and this seems like the most cost affordable way to go about doing so, on such a limited budget. I also just moved into a townhouse with a couch bed an extra bathroom and now have the space to take on guests!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 20, I signed on to assist a team of eye surgeons in the Philippines who were there to remove cataracts from indiginent people. I had absolutely no experience but after one day of training, I scrubbed in and acted as OR tech for the surgeon, handing him the instruments., irrigating the eyeball....
it was a truly remarkable experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m most interested in experiencing the joy that is sharing the human experience with others, especially strangers. That may sound cliche but I am sincere in this endeavor. Being a bartender for many many years has taught me that not reaching out to strangers limits your world immensely. Anyone who works in the hospitality industry should know this (bartenders, cab drivers, etc). This is a big part of what excites me about traveling, and, really, living. No matter how small, we each can learn a little bit from one another. Ech, that is cliche!! But so true.

What I Can Share with Hosts

This one I may have to re-write as I am new to this. What I can say is that I am very polite, respectful, neat and can roll with what comes at me. I am kind, hopefully funny and would love to share my culture with any host.
Good conversation and a deep interest in learning about you and your culture.

Countries I’ve Visited

Mexico, Philippines, South Africa
