Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in Oklahoma, barring the year my family went to Minnesota for dad's work, and two years in Ohio for grad school, I've played violin since I was 8 years old, culminating in a masters degree in violin performance. I currently put it to use playing local gigs.
I'm a homebody, a reader, and consider myself introverted, but you can't tell when I'm out and about socially. I found the idea of travel exhausting until I was able to direct it for myself. There's a true feeling of freedom to being out on the road.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've seen friends of mine have good experiences, and like the idea of adventures and meeting new people, rather than paying a lot of money for a maybe-sterile room.
Interests
I knit, I crochet, I spin, and I dye fiber! I also read, write, and edit for the fun of it, and have a serious love of food. Trying new things makes my heart soar.

Music, Movies, and Books
Epic sci-fi and fantasy series are my thing. To name a few:
Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga
Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern books
Mercedes Lackey's everything
Timothy Zahn's Dragonback series
I'm also an unashamed lover of fanfiction, and I've been trying to read more by female authors lately.
For audiovisual media: Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate...basically all the Star things! Marvel/superhero stuff tempered with the occasional romance.
My musical tastes are eclectic, ranging from pop (Christina Perri) to folk (Jose Gonzales) to electronica (Glitch Mob) to classical (Debussy).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived in Vienna for six weeks during undergrad.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always happy to talk about and show people my current craft, and have taught knitting and crochet to a student here or there.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My company, of course, and I'm happy to tell and listen to stories. I'm still learning the etiquette for this particular site, but paying for food is fine with me.
