My traveling style - I really like exploring and discovering a city. Each one has its own feel and personality. I also really like being in the great outdoors, especially hiking and swimming.

I've traveled to the big cities closest to my hometown - Minneapolis, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal.

In 2014 I visited the Dominican Republic for almost three weeks, two of those weeks spent exploring off resort.

In 2015 I visited Memphis and Nashville for the first time.

In 2016 I completed my first major solo trip to England for my 30th birthday.

My future travel plans - Ottawa for Canada's 150th birthday, then Montreal and Quebec City.

My travel wishlist - Up near the top of my list is Spain and Mongolia, and I would like to eventually do a massive road trip across Canada.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking for an economical way to travel while meeting new people and learning about travel destinations from a local perspective. I'm also a big supporter of solo travel and paying it forward, so couchsurfing seems to be a great, safe way to do all of those things.

Interests

Music, movies/tv shows, books, cooking, hiking/walking, camping, swimming, and ancient history. At home I volunteer with a local radio station and foster cats for a local rescue group. I really enjoy going to concerts, markets, and any local events.

Music - I listen to a very wide range of music - too much to list.
Movies - Some favourites are Birdman, Being John Malkovich, The Lives of Others, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Children of Men, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Blazing Saddles, Bonnie and Clyde.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I was going to the Dominican Republic for the very first time for a friend's wedding and decided to take two extra weeks to go off resort and visit Santo Domingo and the Samana peninsula. A lot of my family and friends did not think it was a good idea and were worried about me. I knew I could do it safely and never lost confidence despite everyone else's misgivings. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
