About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Gobbledygook

ABOUT ME

I consider myself to be a very open-minded and positive person. The world is such a varied and interesting place with so many interesting people and things to see. I am always eager to meet new people and try new activities (I have a rather eclectic taste!) I also find interesting things interesting, as I have not used the word interesting enough in this paragraph. Failing that, there is always gobbledygook.

I was born in the UK, but currently enjoy living in Sweden. I love wandering and exploring the nature over here that can be found everywhere you turn.

I work in the film industry as a freelance location sound recordist, a job that I find incredibly fullfilling as it allows me to travel all across the country (and futher afield) and see lots of strange and unusual places that I would not see otherwise (as well as meeting and work with a lovely and wonderful array of people). As such, it is my mission to travel as much as I can, meet as many people and take in as many of life's experiences that come along as possible!

Things of note: I am a bit of a nerd, lover of all things musical and vegan.

PHILOSOPHY

What it should be - 'Take life as it comes, run when you have to, fight when you must, rest when you can' - to quote Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series.

What it is - work hard, work well and dragons.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few years back my housemates and I hosted a wide variety of people over the course of the year, I have found it to be a great experience meeting different types of people and hearing about their traveling tales and ambitions. Since then I have stayed with several different hosts, all of whom have been lovely and gracious and I cannot wait for the next journey!

Interests

I love many interesting (!) things! I train Capoeira in my spare time and I am a big fan of music, both playing and listening to. I also particularly interested in different mediums of storytelling (including writing and film). I also love most things to do with the outdoors and history (I have a particular soft spot for the Viking era!).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - Wheel of Time, Kelley Armstrong, mythologies, Tolkien, Anne Rice, Sergei Lukyanenko, Icelandic Sagas

Film/Tv - Labyrinth, Buffy, Red Dwarf, Father Ted, Supernatural, Game of Thrones

Music - from metal to medieval folk, I have contrasting tastes, a few examples include Blind Guardian, Coal Chamber, A Perfect Circle, Ravel, Faun, Foo Fighters, Kamelot, DevilDriver, Tyr, Grand Magus.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the Northern Lights shimmer and dance whilst lying on the cold snowy ground in northern Sweden.

Teach, Learn, Share

I own and play far too many random instruments, so am definitely up for playing/teaching basic bits! I know how to make a viking hat and can make yummy lavender biscuits (I can't guarentee they won't turn into cakes, but cake isn't always bad!), and have a wealth of vegan recipes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Fiji, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, Norway, Romania, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In

Sweden, United Kingdom
