Overview
About Me
I work at a nonprofit doing animal advocacy work in Portland. Before this, I spent a few years as a reporter for a few newspapers in Minnesota, where I grew up.
I'm vegan, and I love that I'm getting paid to help animals. When I'm not working, I can be found climbing, camping, doing yoga, biking, or hiking. Or just watching a movie at home.
My philosophy is to live your values and passions. I try to reduce needless violence and suffering to the greatest extent possible in my own life, and I'm always striving to learn and do more.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I consider myself very open-minded and love traveling and meeting new people. I prefer couchsurfing to staying at hotels because meeting locals is a fun way to get to know the ins and outs of a city.
I stayed with some wonderful people in Madison, Wisconsin, and had a lovely time! They provided a great first CS experience. I also stayed with someone in Kansas City and had a lot of fun. I've also stayed with a couple different people in Chicago, and a lovely woman in San Francisco. I've only had positive experiences on CS. Love it.
I've also hosted a couple people and have only had positive experiences hosting as well. I love this community.
I'll host when I can and surf whenever possible :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Running through the mist amid long prairie grass on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Tintagel, Cornwall, England. It was a very surreal and mystical experience and it was the most beautiful place I've seen to date.
...I also saw wild orcas near the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound. Seeing wild orcas swim for miles and miles was at the top of my bucket list, and this was an experience I'll never forget.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a degree in journalism and I'm a pretty good writer.
Also, I've been climbing for a little while now and could teach you the basics.
I'd also love to teach people vegan recipes. :)
