About Me

CURRENT MISSION

let go!

ABOUT ME

I'm a doer. I like doing things. In fact, it's hard for me to spend time not doing anything at all, which is part of why it's time for me to take some time away from my daily life to travel. I'm indulging in being professionally unambitious, while striving to be an emotional over-acheiver.

At home I teach elementary school during the day, and in the evenings I do aerial dance and trapeze. I'm friendly, responsible, and adventurous. I love to laugh at bad puns and dry humor.

I'm independent and make my own way through life. After two years of high school I dropped out to escape the narrow world of American adolesence and spent two years traveling in Central America, working as a photojournalist, and working for NGOs. Later, went on to university to get a B.A. in Community Studies, and then got a teaching credential. Now I'm a teacher trying to make school as exciting and magical as the real world outside the classroom...buuuuut it's still not quite cutting it. It's high time I drop out of school again.

I have never eaten meat in my life, but I expect this might have to change once I'm on the road for a while. I would hate to miss out on all the good food out there, but it's hard to get started because my body just doesn't want meat.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm spending 8 months on the road in Europe, Central America, and South America. I'm traveling alone, which I hope will help me make closer connections with the people and cultures I get to know on my way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm good friends with some of the CouchSurfing staff, and loved spending time at their collective in San Francisco, which used to be a few blocks from my place. I've attended a few picnics and parties and have always felt welcome.

I've had a few couch surfers at my house when my housemate was hosting, and it was a lot of fun. Now that I'm going traveling, I'm excited to be the one on the couch!
