About Me
Travelling now with my best friend from school, Will - this is like our 40th Friendiversary tour 😁
I'm a pretty laid back person; I'm comfortable in my own skin. I prefer experiences over material stuff. I want to see more of the world. I like reading, writing, photography, good conversations over good food/drink/coffee; I like looking at art and taking long walks/bicycle rides.
For now, I'm living in a tiny town in Outback Australia - an adventure of it's own kind.
I'm planning a 5-week European trip for the end of 2023 - my first big overseas trip in about 7 years. Can't wait.
My personal philosophy is to respect the limited time I have been granted by using it pursing things that matter to me and to enjoy my time here. Along the way it's important to value and cherish my friendships.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because it seemed like a great way to meet new people and experience places through the eyes of others. I've been on Couchsurfing since 2006 and have both hosted and been hosted many times over the years. Every experience has been good.
Interests
Travelling, of course. Outdoors: cycling, hiking, camping. Exploring cities: art galleries, parks, cafes, etc. Sitting in the sun doing nought. Reading, writing, photography and seeing movies. I'm also a Washington Nationals fan - that's a baseball team.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read pretty widely -- biographies, fiction, history, travel narratives.
Music -- I am a child of the 1980s and it shows in my music collection. I like many styles of music but it doesn't play as big a role in my life as it once did. My favourite band forever and always is Midnight Oil; others I have loved include Thompson Twins, David Bowie, Paul Kelly, The Smiths, The Church, all things Neil Finn, and, well, others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walking the E5 route through Northern Italy; attending the Harbin Ice Festival; visiting the DMZ between South and North Korea; watching the sun set and rise over Uluru; riding my bicycle over a pass in the Alps.
Countries I’ve Visited
Antigua and Barbuda, Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovakia, South Korea, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
