Overview
About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Beth and we all know why I'm here - I want to travel and meet awesome people. However, I don't like being touristy. I like experiencing the things that locals do and enjoy about their city.
I am going to school to become a Spanish teacher and therefore want to visit as many Spanish speaking countries as I can so that I can teach the culture from first-hand experiences and also be fluent in the language.
I have lived in Barcelona, Spain for 10 months studying abroad, I have traveled to Peru to volunteer as an interpreter for nurses and to Mexico to teach English to those in a shelter for abandoned children.
I can't wait to start my next journey!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I don't like being that touristy. I like experiencing the things that locals do and what they enjoy about their city. I would like to meet people who really know the city that I am traveling to, and to have the opportunity to meet others with similar interests as I do. I feel like I have the chance of meeting more down to earth people and making friends off of what I'm sure will be an amazing weekend.
Interests
I have always been a very active person. I've been involved in some kind of sport since I was 9 years old and don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I really enjoy the outdoors (I'm always up for a hike!) and high thrill activities like skydiving, ziplining, paragliding...whatever it is.

Music, Movies, and Books
I pretty much listen to any type of music. Really.
Movies, I tend to like watching comedies but I also like watching action movies.
As for books, I have been reading more and more lately. I like reading books with unexpected plots or books that I can relate to. I also like reading nonfiction books like "I am Malala" to get a perspective on how other parts of the world really are.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have hiked "El Camino de Santiago" also known as the "The Way of St. James". It's a 500 mile hike that starts just over the boarder in France and then goes through Spain until Santiago. It was such an amazing experience because you work together through tough times and you learn a lot about yourself. You also learn to live with the bare minimum for a month and enjoy the little things in life. I recommend this hike to everyone! You will not regret it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I believe that couchsurfing is really an exchange. I'm sure both the host(s) and I will have stories and information to share and we will both take something away from the experience together by the end of it. I can share insight into being in poor countries and the difference between those and the ones that are more modernized. I hope to also meet other hosts who have interests in traveling to the same places I've been or where I would like to travel to.
