About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learning and exploring as much as I can before I hang my hat for the last time.
ABOUT ME
I try to be as open as I can be; I love to meet new folks and learn from everyone as much as I can. I like trains. A lot. I can talk about them for hours, so don't get me started. I feel most comfortable in motion, which is why I've been traveling for 3 years. Also, I love to explore. I have friends all over the coutry and spend a lot of my time going around visiting friends and family.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Just started, so I'll let ya know!
Interests
I ride freight trains around the country. I always wanted to travel, and not having any money, that was a good way to get started. I love going on hikes and try to do at least a day hike in every town I go to. My job of choice is farm work; especially organic. Anything outdoors, really. I play guitar, a banjo-uke, and a teeny bit of banjo. I enjoy playing with other musicians, not great at improvising yet, though (workin on it). I walk a lot... if it's between taking a bus or walking, I'd rather walk. Pretty into cycling; I know a bit about fixing bikes up as well. I do a little photography; I have an old 35mm Minolta. I would love to learn how to use a darkroom. I have excellent taste in beer. 2 of my favorite brews are: Coldsmoke (Missoula, MT) and Scottie Karate (Marshall, MI).

Music, Movies, and Books
I love old-timey jazz and blues, punk rock, and bluegrass.
Books: Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaimen, Tom Robbins, George Orwell, etc... I read a lot.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was riding an eastbound train out of Portland, OR, and I woke up in the morning and looked out, but there was a heavy fog hanging in the air so that I couldn't see anything. Gradually as I was eating my breakfast, the fog began to clear and revealed the Columbia River to the north; pristine and with spiky rock formation beyond it and through it, occasionally. The grandeur through there is incredible.. it looks unreal.
Riding my bike through some sandstone mountains in Montana next to the Yellowstone River and seeing a black bear on the other side, unaware of me, searching for fish.
Standing at the peak of the mountain by the medicine wheel in Lovell, WY, looking out and seeing the sun set over the lonely landscape of Wyoming.
Teach, Learn, Share
I travel with a guitar and a uke, and am always willing to help people learn how to play. I know a lot about the food industry, and can share information if you're interested. I can tell ya all sorts of things about trains. :)
