About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn more about the world, do all the things I think I can't do.

ABOUT ME

I am kind of quiet, but also kinda really extra and weird in an unintentional way. I'm not trying to be different, just trying to be myself. Genderqueer, predominantly lesbian woman. I draw all the coloring pages we use in free time in my after school program, but illustrate and do stick and poke tattoo for fun. I like to run a lot. I have tried to run 100 miles twice, and both times stopped at 75 miles for different reasons. I once accidentally ran 70 miles in a 50 mile race and hated my life for all of the extra miles. I am reserved and pause a lot to think, but I am loud when excited. I like taking care of friends. Low-key glitter faerie butch/futch.

PHILOSOPHY

I just try to learn about and learn from everyone I meet. Everyone has something to teach, everyone has something special about them, and everyone has something(s) they struggle with.

I grew up Mormon, but have since left the LDS church. I like hearing about other religions and philosophies and different people's experiences in relation to them.

I am kind of an earth lover with no particularly organized religion or philosophy. I think if you pay attention, you can learn lessons from animals and plants. Or rather, taking what you observe, you can have a good dialogue within yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have roommates right now, but I'd like to have couchsurfers someday. Hanging out with visitors to Salt Lake City would be fun, we could go trail running, practice Spanish, English, or Portuguese, dance, or go to Food Not Bombs together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed in Prague, Budapest, Vienna, L'viv, and Anchorage, Alaska. Meeting people while travelling kinda fills your heart and makes the world less lonely. Some of my favorite memories involve friends met while Couchsurfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I learned to navigate Lima (from Comas in the north to Chorrillos in the south) using only public transportation for 6 months.

I also got lost trail running in the woods of Šumava a lot, got off the bus at the wrong stop, and hitchhiked 40 km with someone I wasn't sure spoke the same language. I got through these things by asking for help, being patient, and trusting in the kindness of strangers.

I visited Machu Picchu and Cuzco. Machu Picchu is way more amazing than any of the photos when you round the corner and see the top of it. They call Cuzco the bellybutton of the world. I could kind of feel it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach impromptu gluten free and vegan baking (depending on the available materials), Spanish, English, some Irish folk songs. I couldn't teach you, but I could accompany you and motivate you running.

I need lots of practice in Portugese. If you know some good folktales or folksongs, I would like to hear and learn those too. I will always take company on runs as well (especially on mountain/nature trails). I'd like to learn to cook local dishes (or vegan versions).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cookies, dance moves, songs, pencil sketches, tattoos if I have access to needles, ink, and sanitary materials.
