About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finish grad school with my sanity *mostly* intact. And after, to continue exploring the world, experience different cultures, people, sounds, sights, music, food. I want to take it all in!

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Liz, and I want to learn as much as I can about the world! I want to travel/host travelers, meet people from different places (and sometimes the same places), gather up our experiences and swirl them together into a comprehensive worldview.

In a nutshell, I am looking to gain new experiences, friends, and perspective on life!

PHILOSOPHY

I practice kindness and revere the interconnectedness. I recognize the impermanence of life and see this as motivation to collect experiences instead of things. I am not static but always evolving.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing couches, and now offering up a teeny, tiny couch in my teeny tiny place--OR a recently acquired extra jumbo-sized camping cot! It's like 7-feet long!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

-First couchsurfing experience was in Dresden, shout-out to the awesome Kai.
-Second amazing time as a surfer was in Prague, with the wonderful Jakub.

Interests

So many things! I like culture, languages, food, music, concerts, cooking, walking, cycling, hiking, trekking, rock climbing, swimming, playing with animals (& both playing and animals in general), slacklining, drinking wine, talking, science, philosophy, nature, nutrition, learning, psychology, medicine, herbalism, homeopathy, the universe!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: all of the beats. Classic rock, alternative, hip-hop, house, folk, shoe-gazer, R&B, terrible 90's-2000's pop (cheers to you, Britney).

Movies: eccentric. Suspense and horror, e.g. Hithcock to Tarantino's over-the-top graphic gore. Zombies. Love stories. Political dramas. Comedies. Thrillers. Documentaries.

Books: a good book makes for a fine companion under many circumstances; unfortunately it's all textbooks, all the time these days. Can't wait to bring some fantastic fiction back into my life.

Suggestions for good reads, movies or music are always welcome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of the best experiences of my life have come from rather mundane-seeming activities. Like sitting on a beach with some amazing people, just talking, drinking beers and watching the sunset. Maybe it seems plain, but remembering this still gives me those warm fuzzies, and I find that amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to cook and bake! I can share some of my home-cooking and tiny kitchen with you.
Novice rock-climber, so I can show you how to tie a figure-8 knot or take you to the climbing gym.

I can knit and crochet a bit, if you'd like to learn how to do that. Kind of a nice meditative practice, and you can give the hats and scarfs out as gifts!

I am always open to learning, and will take in whatever you are willing to teach!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good time, lots of laughs, a book or two, cup of tea or coffee.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Spain
