CURRENT MISSION
A journey of authenticity, free of "plans"
ABOUT ME
When you see us coming we may look a bit like turtles with our big backpacks. In our hands you can see a ukulele and a bodhrán (Irish frame drum). We both like to live our lives actively, rather than passively and try our best to make ethical and sustainable choices (difficult to do in some places). Neither of us takes ourselves too seriously, laughter coming as naturally with intelligent humor as it does with silliness. We don't try to impose our beliefs on others, but are always willing to exchange ideas and inspiration for mutual benefit.
Eliza:
I am a dreamer, but I'm pretty good at turning my dreams into reality. I like to carve my own path in the world. I love making real connections with people. Sometimes I'm awkward or shy at first, but I try to be open. I like going for walks, looking at architecture, watching clouds drifting and trees moving with the wind. I like to sew, and play with my cats. I also care for a large number of plants, so our apartment is pretty green. We had a small veggie garden on the balcony. Although we had to distribute our plants and cats among our wonderful friends to look after while we are travelling.
I recently graduated with a BSc in environmental science and resource management and a minor in dance. I am particularly interested in watershed systems, sustainability and permaculture. I like learning
about and experiencing other cultures. I goof around a lot too when I feel comfortable.
Logan:
I am actively learning everything I can about permaculture and self sufficiency to one day build a home off of the grid. I love learning new skills and crafts from winemaking to beekeeping, bike repair, and picking up new instruments. I also love to get creative in the kitchen and focus on expanding my recipe book of vegetarian/vegan fare.
I am a musician. I play ukelele, guitar, piano, percussion and pretty much any instument I get my hands on. As I travel I am always excited to meet musicians for the experience of hearing and creating new sounds.
I'm also a bicyclist. Whenever I have a bike to use, I ride it everywhere
PHILOSOPHY
Peace comes from within > Be the change you want to see in the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are very fond of the CS project. We have done some hosting, and surfing as well. All of our experiences have been absolutely wonderful thus far. When we are at home we have busy day-to-day lives, but we love to share the best secrets of Seattle.
When we travel, couch surfing is our favourite resource because we believe it is the best way to really get to know a place.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have surfed on friends couches at home and all around the UK and Ireland. Sometimes in exchange we pet sit, cook, do dishes, or just bring the conversation and music. We have also hosted many surfers and gained some good friends. We would like to do more hosting when we get back and intend to pick a new place with room for a few surfers!

Music, Movies, and Books
Eliza:
Books: I like travel/adventure books, memoirs or fiction, such as The Russians by Hedrick Smith, Seven Years In Tibet by Heinrich Harrer, Congo by Micheal Crichton, The Princess Bride etc. I like the ever popular fantasy, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit,Harry Potter, the Golden Compass, the Spook series, Wizard's First Rule etc. Sci fi has also entered my reading list. I like everything I've read by Michael Crichton.
I tend to read a lot of technical stuff too, particularly about dance, anatomy, trees, and guitar.
Music: Pandora radio is AWESOME.
as for bands/artists.... Bonobo, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Corrs, Jack Johnson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Björk, Bob Marley, Freeland Whales, Geographer, Norah Jones, and my guilty pleasure is Taylor Swift (yes, I am moderately embarrassed by this).
I enjoy lots of Celtic music, and classical as well. I enjoy sharing and trading music suggestions with others
Movies: I like clever or ridiculous comedy, a la Monty Python, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, etc. I also enjoy twisted/creative/beautiful cult films, such as The Fountain, and The Science of Sleep. I like all the non-American films I've seen: Amélie, Pans Labyrinth and many others that I cannot recall the names of. I am generally open to anything outside of mainstream American action, comedy, or "romantic comedy".
I have a weakness for reasonably cheesy superhero/dinosaur movies, including X-Men (all of them), Mystery Men, Jurassic Park, ...)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I discovered a hidden, overgrown staircase on a hillside. I had to climb on my hands and knees through prickly vines. When I emerged, covered in mud and scratches, I was able to enjoy a spectacular view that hadn't been glimpsed in a very long time. This was back home and years ago.
Since then we both have been to exciting and memorable places, high on clifftops and far out across tidal bridges. The greatest things can also be found in a few words and moments with some special people.
Teach, Learn, Share
Eliza can tell you quite a bit about vegetation native to the Pacific Northwest, sustainability and other ecological concepts. I can also show you how to mend clothing or we can make beaded or hemp jewelry together! Yay!
Logan can cook some very tasty food. He is also prone to starting/joining jam sessions.
We can also show you how to make candles and discuss Non-violent communication, a lifestyle based on the teachings of Gandhi that we have both been trying to learn/follow.
