About Me
I'm a German-born Aussie, and hate both labels!
Like most of us, I have a long story. But the short version is, I gave away / sold most of my stuff, put a few boxes in storage, and left Australia with a couple of bags to my name. I'm in search for something outside my bubble of fixed income and comfortable ignorance, and am in Turkey to learn new skills. Some may call this a midlife crisis .. but I've had a couple of those already, last time I just bought a Beetle. This is serious ;)
I seem to gravitate towards social causes and education, and hope to find a niche here to work with the growing number of displaced kids who aren't going to school. It's a journey, and the book is being written....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Why CS? Most likely for the same reasons that 98% are here - meeting people.
My hope when being hosted is that I get some good information about the area I'm staying.... not what a hotel or backpackers thinks you want to hear.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: not a big movie person, a bit ADD-ish that way, but recently I've seen some that grabbed me.
Journey to the Sun (Turkish)
Jin (Kurdish)
Min dît / Ben Gördüm /The Children of Diyarbakır
Books: the one hardcopy book I travel with is "Let me Stand Alone" by Rachel Corrie
I read a lot of different books
Music: Spotify is my only luxury as far as commercial expense goes, and I just let it surprise me most days
Listen to Turkish, Kurdish, Irish and all sorts of folk music as much as to HipHop and Indie. Whatever mood I'm in
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Not succumb to negativity
