I'm American by passport, grew up in Tokyo and now study Computer Science in Abu Dhabi! I'm a very quiet, calm person, but I love a good conversation and am always happy to listen to other people's stories (as well as share my own). I like learning languages, reading, listening to podcasts, and playing sports.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel a lot, and because it sometimes ends up being solo I love to use CS to meet new people. In the past I've mostly been involved through meet ups but I'm looking to join as a surfer/host more in the upcoming years as I venture into adulthood!

Interests

I've been an athlete my whole life and love playing sports (but don't be fooled, I'm not actually that good at most of the sports I play). I'm in it for the exercise and the chance to meet new people. I also love learning languages! I grew up speaking english at home and learning Japanese in school. I've also been studying Mandarin for 7 years now, have spent immersion summers in Beijing and Taiwan, and love to shock people with my fluency in Asian languages. I also dabbled a bit in Spanish during my semester abroad, and have picked up a bit of Arabic here in Abu Dhabi.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music preferences are all over the place (I would say I enjoy everything but country music), though I tend to return to Jazz at the end of the day. Favorite album is Miles Davis' Kind of Blue.

I read like a maniac, especially when I travel and I love a good conversation about books. At the moment I'm deep into Ayn Rand and objectivism (just finished Atlas Shrugged, moving onto The FountainheaD) so if you're up for a philosophical debate let me know.
