About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To enjoy the many beauties of Europe and Africa through as much overland travel as possible, to parle de And Spanish like a local and to climb all the volcanoes ever.
ABOUT ME
Sunny and a little adventurous, I spent the 18 months travelling through my native Australia, Indonesia, Morocco, Cuba and Europe before settling the last two years here in Berlin. I plan to be on this side of the world for a while...
Though this couch surfing profile is a new thing, throughout the years I've had the pleasure of hosting many a traveller as they've passed through my town.
Honest and down to earth, I make a killer cup of tea and live to share a bottle of vino somewhere with a view.
PHILOSOPHY
Mindfulness.
Take time to appreciate the many moments of beauty that make up our days.
Endeavour, explore, experience. Love the road and she'll love you back.
If ever things are starting to feel heavy in life, find a view and spend an hour hilltop or at a pinch, rooftop- admire the enormity of distance to gather some perspective.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All sorts of hosting and more than a few couches slept on myself...
I grew up in and have been a part of some great share houses where we've had had many good times welcoming and hosting all sorts of excellent people from all over the world.
I've just semi finished renovating my lovely new home in quite possibly the greenest area of inner Berlin. Just installed the kitchen tap-- ready for some guests!
Interests
I more and more appreciate any time I can spend in the great outdoors- in gardens, waking through forests, watching clouds, lying in the sunshine, and sleeping to the sounds of water.
There's a huge park/ forest by the river Spree near to my apartment, perfect for picnics and rosé wine schorles. If it's summer and you come to stay, and you don't know what a rosé wine schorle is, then i promise to invite you. There are also paddle boats there, some in the shape of swans!
I'm also pretty partial to a night on the town, theatre music live shows or whatever really.

early blues, hip hop esp 90s smooth beat, Black books, Ab fab, Toni Colette all the things with Fred Astaire;; velvet goldmine, Dylan, rockabilly and old stuff, live african choirs, any Tarantino soundtracks and the lion king and love actually. Also lots more.
Live music with instruments or a capella any-day over hardcore trance
Kleine Maulwurf!
Favourite books are generally well written historical essays and memoirs, especially if I happen to be in the country they are set. Other favourite authors and books include Oliver Sacks, Dave Eggars and dr seuss, the neverending story, tin tin and the bridge.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Night diving in an ocean of phosphorescent algae- lying back with torches off, watching our bubbles glowing 20 meters to the surface.
Climbing Gunung Rinjani (nearly 4000m) and witnessing a most perfect harmony of the elements. This is the place where clouds get made.
Teach, Learn, Share
For now, I mainly have stories to share... there are surely some skills in here to share too (English teaching/ editing?), but really I'm keen to listen and learn.
I could show you how to make a paper crane? Or a rose from a napkin...
