HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I sleep wherever people let me, cook a meal, peruse bookshelves, and try to get a sense of the person's life whilst not disrupting it with my presence.

When I'm home I host dependent on my circumstances. My home is not your hotel. I don't get paid; show respect.

I'm an easygoing host, but I don't 'coddle' my guests; clear communication is expected in lieu of knowing the idiosyncrasies of differing global etiquettes.

My first 'surfer was Holga from Quebec, Canada.
We went to the roller derby and watched films for a couple of days - I wish we'd had longer to hang out.

My first hosts were Zola and Toeska in Antwerp, a relaxed visit to an absolutely stunning city. They were so bubbly and kind that I felt instantly at home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed with a load of really interesting people, met some friends who I hope to stay in touch with. Global networks based on common good and hospitality have never been more important.

Currently living solo, hosted a load of really brilliant people so far in Edinburgh with my previous flatmates in various locations. *As I'm a solo female, I'm only accepting female travellers as guests, groups fine, but no men allowed, no exceptions.*

I'm a manga veteran, wannabe-seamstress, determined cyclist, avid reader and mad ball of crazy energy.

I enjoy long journeys on trains, exploring new places, rock-climbing, tree-cimbing and swimming in the sea.

I'm eager to learn to sail and hang-glide, ride a motorbike, and indulge my adrenaline-fuelled side.
I'll glean satisfaction from any learning experience, it's just how I operate.

I read somewhere that "open-minded" and "empty-headed" have become synonymous. Critical thinking and polite debate are increasingly scarce. I hope to maintain the art.
