About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Free 2 birds with the same key.

ABOUT ME

I have an intense lust for adventure and all that it brings - opportunity, the ability to witness the fruits of different communities, the chance to meet people who are pursuing their passions, and even the sticky situations that can teach so much.
I enjoy time spent in quiet observation, but can get just as much joy out of time spent with others in play, in conversation, in simple togetherness.
I have a great respect for people who actively put themselves out there, be it to offer a couch, a shoulder, a plate of food, or a word of advice. I do what I can to reward them in whatever way I can.
Every day my goal is to keep on engaging my purpose.
This is where I keep some recorded music - breadwinnerwinsbread.bandcamp.com

PHILOSOPHY

I have a secret superhero name that I gave myself. I am a suggarnaut - |ˈSHo͝ogərˌnôt| noun. a sweet crystalline substance that is a huge, powerful, and overwhelming force, consisting essentially of love; a creature or energy that is so determined that it can erupt anything in its path into a star. Yesterday morning, the SUGGERNAUT rose from street into the city, and the yards, fences and storefronts became warm again.

It's my mission to hold myself to such a standard, whether or not I feel that I'm capable. Because the truth is, I think I'm capable, even on days when my heart hurts or I'm lazy, I think I'm capable. I guess I wouldn't be trying if I thought otherwise.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As of yet, I've never tried my hand with this website, but I've stayed on a pretty good number of couches. The experiences have tended on making me feel so damn good that it's as though I'm gaining years to my life.

Interests

I love folk who know how to taste their words! The story-tellers out there.
Gimme, gimme that quick wit. It challenges and excites me.
Cooking and baking is calming, contenting.
Exploration freshens my very blood.
Above all, what I crave is for every moment to achieve music. To be music.
The guitar, the banjo, the cello, and this throat of mine are my very dear companions.
I keep a thorough poetic documentation which I call my notebook. Every minute of the day is fair game to be recorded in it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the summer of my 14th year, I took a trip to jolly ol' Switzerland with a big group of other tikes my age. We went up the longest wooden cog train on this Earth, scooting tick by tick to the peak of the Pilatus Mountain. There, my friend Anna and I watched people luge down long silver tubes on opposite slopes. We walked through tunnels gouged through the bedrock and found a good deal of lore about dragons written on plaques on the walls of the tunnels. While eating butter and cheese sandwiches, we rounded a corner and there it was. Some kind of lush infinity with snow piled in its low rounded parts. We didn't speak until Anna asked, "What color do you feel?" "Clear," I said. And I meant it. Not just metaphorically, but physically clear. That was the first taste, and it's the where my unflinching thirst began teething. I was born a wanderer that day and the whole of creation was there to welcome me, and vice versa.

It seems appropriate to mention this series of fortunate events as well: On another occasion, in the summer of 2011, I traveled cross-country with a dear friend, reading Tom Robbins books aloud all along the way and scouting out good tall places in nature and in cities to sing from. Being that it was my first introduction to Mr. Robbins' body of work, I was awestruck and determined to find him and demand his steadfast fearless love (because I already felt such love for him, of course). Once my friend and I made it successfully to Southern Washington, I was scooped up by a group of 3 hilarious fire-cracker men who were on their way to Seattle - the home of my beloved - and then on to San Francisco. During the fluid week that I spent in Seattle, I found the bar that Tom was rumored to haunt. The bartender was nursing a cigarette at the door, ignoring the constant Pacific Northwestern mist. When I shared my mission with him, he assured me that I indeed did not want Mr. Robbins to fall for me because he was a "chauvinist bastard." And all was well in the world again! I was suddenly free of my love-longing and I moved triumphantly on to San Francisco. Once there, I was blessed to have been mentored by a fellow named Diamond Dave Whitaker who supported me musically and emotionally while in a strange new city. Here today, he remains my mentor and friend and the confidence that this adventure afforded me has not been shaken from my spirit. Perhaps it never will.
