About Me
Hello travel world! I know it says I've been a member since 2010 and I have no references or friends, but I forgot I had this and am finally trying to revitalize this. So I can use this as a resource to meet more like-minded people in my travels. I grew up my whole life in the rural USA, but have spent most of my adult life living elsewhere in the USA or the world, usually working in some kind of social work job. I've never used Couchsurfing before, but I have been a house guest in about every type of circumstance there is, so this kind of exchange is nothing new to me. My name's Carina, but most people call me Toots. I am enthusiastic about it all because it's the best way to stay present in your life. I am easy going, kind, quite extroverted, but also independent. I'm an opportunist, so I say yes to almost everything especially any social event or chance to dance. I'm a Hufflepuff who can't stay home, so I am constantly trying to foster relationships along the way (i.e. home). *ENFP*
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travel for me isn't as much about the sights and attractions, but more about experiences and the people I meet along the way. Usually I travel slow and live in a place for a while and get to know people. But for when I'm only someplace for a short time, couchsurfing seems like a fantastic way to meet quality people quick.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm open to so many genres of music. Same with movies? I love documentaries, indie low-budget films can be good, fictional pieces that deal with real world issues, Iranian films, I love fast banter like West Wing and Gilmore Girls. I don't know why I love Narcos so much. Poor Economics is one of my favorite books. Currently reading Barbara Kingsolver and Guns, Germs, and Steele; those are balancing each other out nicely.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm. I was recently teaching at a local NGO school in Cambodia, and managed to fundraise, build, and start a Khmer/English library while I was there. The students are doing so great with it and libraries are magical. So, I would say that is this season's high point.
