About Me

Heyooooooo I'm Ellie
I'm 24 and I like sunshine and good food and being outside and rambling and going on adventures and meeting dogs and fellow humans. I am forever grateful and astounded by this planet that we get to call home and nurturing my love for the Earth, living in harmony with her, and protecting her and all of life is my calling. I studied languages at university because traveling is my favorite and better communication and understanding between all beings is the only way to make our world a better place

Meet me on the dance floor!!! Discovering the love and healing that can be found in movement. And also, DANCING IS SOOOO FUN

Hitchhiking around Europe over the past few years, experiencing the kindness of complete strangers has filled me with so much hope and appreciation I can't even describe. Still trying to pay this kindness forward

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I was living in Fes, Morocco I did a lot of traveling about and met some amazing people through hostels etc. A fair few of them stayed with me and my housemates when they found themselves in Fes and it was so nice to have different people stay and hear about their crazy adventures. I keep in touch with a lot of them still. All round I find the exchange of a place to stay for some good stories, ideas, skills, experiences, company and wine or whatever u like, a really beautiful thing
So i figured it's about time i set up an actual couchsurfing account!

Music, Movies, and Books

Love reading adventure and climbing books. A particular fave is Space Below my Feet by Gwen Moffat, extraordinary woman and pioneer in the world of climbing, makes me want to escape to the mountains immediately, climb all things, shake off all of society’s expectations and live my own truth

I also love reading about science and history and social justice in particular, such as Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race by Rennie Eddo-Lodge and The Guilty Feminist by Deborah Francis White. (10/10 would deffo recommend both to a friend)

But equally love to break it up and feed my imagination with some far fetched tasty fictitious story. Currently reading Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, what a time to be alive

I love allllll sorts of music from all over the world. If it is colourful and has energy and soul I will almost certainly love it

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While I was living in Morocco I climbed Mount Tubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa (3 days trek and 4,167m, and the most breathtaking views of my life), and the highest my legs have ever taken me, even though I had food poisoning lol

Hiking in the Himalayas last year and Vipassana meditation course, along with meeting the most beautiful beings ever in the jungle, has me head over heels in love with Nepal. Cannot wait to return to this glorious land

I know it says one amazing thing but ALSO September 2018 I hiked the 96 mile long West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William and then scaled Ben Nevis because why not with my best pal Emma. We did it for charity and it was probably the most difficult and most rewarding and ridiculous thing i ever done - certainly the furthest my little legs have never carried me. I learned that determination and laughter and silliness can get you through the most sideways of rains

Rambling makes my soul smile
