About Me

I'm Elly, I'm 19 years old and I live in beautiful Surrey when I'm not at university in equally as beautiful Bath. I love travelling, watching foreign language films and learning languages. I currently study German and Politics as I absolutely love all things Germany.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's an amazing idea which helps to connect people from all over the world. It enables people to show off the city/town they came from and offer their guest an experience no tourist could get. Also I like the philosophy of trust that comes with the website - that no matter where you're from, what religion you follow or language you speak, you can be accepted into this amazing community.

Interests

I love languages, foreign language films and TV shows and most of all travelling. I'm making it my aim to have travelled to 4 continents by the time I'm 30, and to be able to speak a native language on every single one. So far I've covered North America (English), Europe (German), soon Africa (French) and after university Asia (Japanese) as I plan to move to Japan.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is usually R&B and soul, old & new, be it Usher or Bill Withers.
My favorite movie of all time is 'La Grande Belleza' - (The Great Beauty) - which is about a seventy year old journalist who looks back on his life in Rome, his youth - where he fell in love and wrote a famous novel, his middle ages - where the love fell apart and he got divorced and began writing for various magazines, and his old age - where friends die and nothing is certain. 'E'tutto un truco' (it's all a trick) as the journalist declares.
I love bizarre books about extremists and cults and travels to less popular regions of the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got a cameo in a TV show by accident. Walking through Washington Square Park I was wondering why everyone was standing still...then the director said 'action' and everyone (including a very bewildered me) started walking. So yeah..look out for me in NCIS.

Teach, Learn, Share

Happy to teach German!
Would love to learn basically any language, I absolutely love being able to speak with natives in their native language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories/an endless enthusiasm for travel/this drinking game I learned at university.

Countries I’ve Visited
