Overview
About Me
I have the energy level of an adolescent hummingbird and a slight Napoleon complex. I am graceful in the water but not on land. I attack menial tasks with inordinate amounts of enthusiasm because WHY NOT. I love cooking breakfast but don't really like eating it. I also love books, coffee, exercise, dogs, punctuality, music that brings the funk, climbing tall things and NOT jumping off them, staying up late, and getting up early.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just re-visited my profile after a 5 year hiatus, although I've been a part of the couch surfing community since 2004. In college my roommates and I hosted dozens of couch surfers over 3 years in San Francisco - we had a communal profile though, so all of those references are long gone :(...But having travelers as a constant influence in our lives added so much fun and flavor to our already colorful household. There's something really amazing about being able to share the secrets of a city you really love with people seeing it for the first time...it simultaneously heightens your awareness for the beauty that surrounds you and reminds you that there is so much more out there to see.
Once I was able to travel myself, I also really enjoyed meeting hosts I wouldn't have otherwise met- not just young travelers but families and older people also willing to open their homes. I am constantly amazed and humbled by peoples' generosity in sharing what they have.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At various times over the past ten years, I have been: a student, an activist, a farmer, a circus performer, a wilderness immersion instructor, a sailor, a construction worker, and probably a few things I'm forgetting. I've seen a full lunar eclipse in the Nevada desert and stood on top of an active volcano. I've sailed 2,000 nautical miles at a stretch and I've swam with sharks and dolphins. It's been a pretty colorful decade.
What I Can Share with Hosts
PLEASE let me do your dishes while I stay with you. I am so touched my my hosts' thoughtfulness and courtesy and I hate feeling presumptuous or purposeless. I love conversation, I never do too much "hanging out" during the day (I sort of suck at relaxing in the traditional sense of the word) so my presence will never be an imposition. I would be happy to make you breakfast- I am a morning person so I'll be up anyway.
