About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning

I think learning is more of a life-long mission. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface and there's just so much to scratch out there.

I have lived in China, Hong Kong, Myanmar for a year and tried to understand that part of the world a little bit better. Generally, I want to see and talk to people of all walks of life so that I can broaden my understanding of what makes people think and act the way they do.

I was also based in Argentina for 1 year..lived my long-held dream of South America. Kinda did the same..trying to figure out how the country and its people tick, where local lunfardo slang came from, why is everyone going out so late, why is wine and beef so good and cheap, etc.

ABOUT ME

Some words that fit the picture - verbose speaker, music buff.

I like to think of myself as open and open-minded. I guess as everyone on CS??

I am keen on learning languages, generally keen on learning everything.

I like keeping myself busy all day every day.

I value intelligence and good conversations highly.

You can catch me getting stingy about spending 10 euros on a bus ticket and then splashing out 20 on some good pasta.

I like taking photos of people.

PHILOSOPHY

Make the most of any situation life presents you with.

Doubt is uncomfortable, certainty is ridiculous.

One does not accumulate but eliminate. It is not daily increase but daily decrease. The height of cultivation always runs to simplicity.

I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in - John Muir

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Talk. Walk. See. Offer a couch. Get a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have done couchsurfing in Europe and Asia in Italy, Ireland, UK, Vietnam, Japan, etc.. Great times, great hosts, great countries.

Have taken couchsurfers around my home city, too and hosted people in Glasgow in my flat.

Interests

Just about anything (only thing that does not interest me too much is animals for some reason).

I am that late night deep conversations type of person. Politics, religion, culture are among my favourites.

Keen on Latino music/dance/food..

Music, Movies, and Books

Music tastes vary greatly. I like picking up music from the people I meet:

Jose James
Anderson Paak
Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah
Onra
Tom Misch
Lianne La Havas
Zeca Pagodinho
Antonio Carlos Jobim
Bossa Nova
Oldies (70s, 80s)
Sertanejo
Vintage Trouble
Miles Davis
Reggaeton
Leon Bridges

Movies: those that either rack my brains, or take me to a different world... or make me feel ambivalent about liking them. Mostly interested in non-English films. Black Mirror is pretty cool too.

Cidade de Deus
Nessuno si salva da solo
Whatever works
Relatos salvajes
Querida voy a comprar cigarrillos y vuelvo

Books : Wish I had read so much more. Yet, some good reads:
Osho
Being and nothingness
F.S. Fitzgerald
Niccolo Machiavelli - The Prince
Consolations of Philosophy
Alberto Moravia

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riding on the back of a motorbike in Xi'an.
Spending one year of my life in Hong Kong.
Watching the sun set in Huangshan mountains, China.
Visiting Bagan, Myanmar and zipping around its hundreds of ancient temples.
Taking a ride on the back of a truck full of locals on my way to the top of a mountain in the countryside of Myanmar.
