Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
I want to broaden my horizons and learn to examine the world from a variety of perspectives
ABOUT ME
I am a curious individual who wants to learn as much as she can about the world! I absolutely love delicious food and wine/beer, I love music and dancing, I love having interesting conversations where I come out feeling enlightened, and I love languages. Also, my favorite color is turquoise and I love tigers :)
PHILOSOPHY
"No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another." -Charles Dickens.
I think this quote pretty much sums up the way I feel about my life. Long-term, I want to change the world by taking a stand for those who cannot stand for themselves. In the meantime, I need to educate myself as much as I can in the different ways people live and believe, so that I can change things in our world in a culturally respectful way.
As to how I approach my everyday life, I believe Mark Twain said it best:
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Up until now I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet people by spending time on their couches and by cooking for them in their homes. Although I cannot host right now (because I am living with a roommate and our couch is pretttttty tiny), I would love to host people once I have a viable couch situation!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have officially couchsurfed in Athens, Shanghai, Beijing, and Salvador. I had wonderful experiences in each of these places. It was special not only to see these cities through the eyes of locals, but also to get to befriend new people with different perspectives and life experiences. I have informally couchsurfed all over, from Dallas to rural India. I have also informally hosted lots of friends, and I`d like to think I do a pretty good job at making them feel welcome in my home and educated about the places I live!

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I'm super eclectic, loving music from the Beatles to EDM, to Ella Fitzgerald to Sublime and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I love historical fiction like the Great Gatsby, A Tale of Two Cities, and the Three Musketeers, but I also love the Hunger Games and Shantaram. I'm all over the map! My three favorite movies are Shakespeare in Love, Some Like it Hot and Midnight in Paris.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I dedicated two years to teaching low-income students in a poor area of Dallas, Texas. This was the hardest experience of my life, but I learned so much from it. Nothing has been as formative as those two years, so ask me about it if you'd like to know more!
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I'm not quite sure at the moment what practical skills I can share (I'm a pretty good cook, I have to admit), but I definitely can share knowledge and a passion for living life to the fullest. I love to learn new languages, recipes, and perspectives.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
Good food, love of life, curiosity, good conversation, and a bottle of red wine!
