About Me

Currently in between homes and traveling, after working this season up by Denali National Park in Alaska. Just got to Ann Arbor, Michigan and am looking for jobs, friends, exploring the beautiful area, and places to stay in the mean time.

I had been living in Durango, Colorado to pursue adventure education and wilderness therapy. I'm getting as many outdoor certifications as possible. I am ever on a mission to quench my thirst for world travel and exploration, to make a positive difference in this life, to experience the world and people's gifts of beauty and joy, to flow with the ups and downs, and to forever be learning, growing, and discovering!

ABOUT ME

In one word: adventurer. To me, the best life includes a heavy dose of hiking, camping, sleeping under the stars, really any outdoor sport or activity, meeting new people, never loosing curiosity, or the eyes of a child. I'm very happy with few materials items- it's the simple life for me!

Otherwise, I'm a dreamer/explorer/photographer/yogi who just got back from living and traveling in NZ and surrounding areas. Now I'm in the process of finishing school as I've found how and where to get a degree in something I love (adventure education and therapy). I'm originally from the states - Kansas (no Dorothy references please). I love to wander around, go to festivals, art galleries (the graffiti and mural on the street are galleries to me too!), see live music and shows, do absolutely anything involving nature, meet new people, go camping, and create what I wish I could call art. I love photography, music (fiddle and Irish music is my fave to play), and pick around on other instruments. Ultimately I want to learn cello!), yoga, rock climbing, and dancing. Hiking, exploring, yoga, going on adventures, meditation and relaxing into nature are favorite past times of mine, and of course going out dancing, rocking out at concerts, and hanging out with awesome people! I am somewhat of an activist, so I"m up for discussions about politics/religion/world ethics/philosophy. Even if I have my opinions, I don't try to convert others and would love to hear everyone's side to things! I'm up for pretty much anything, am open minded and easy to get along with.

PHILOSOPHY

Live simply and happily, leave no trace.
I choose to see beauty in the overlooked and ordinary. Miracles are everywhere, every day, you just have to open your eyes and heart to see it.

The world is at our fingertips and I fully intend on reaching out to explore it! Life is an adventure so dig in, make mistakes, and get messy! I strongly believe that dreams can come true when you passionately follow your own path, believe in yourself, and realize dreams can become reality with hard work, determination, and the application of passion.

"There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.” - Albert Einstein

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
Live the life you have imagined." Henry David Thoreau

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By crashing on your couch/floor/backyard! I'm always looking for a place to set up my tent, or simply sleep under the stars. One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to interact and connect with the locals as well as other travelers. While on a life long journey of exploration, I love encountering different ideas, interacting with different cultures and people, and discovering this wild world we live in so couch surfing is a great way to get around and accomplish those things. I happily practice leave no trace and am great at picking up after myself!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed in New Zealand and Australia, and have been WWOOFing (exchange work) quite a bit, so I know what it's like to stay at other peoples' homes. I respect your space and am simply thankful to have somewhere to stay with the benefit of meeting you. I have hosted people back in Kansas, just not through the Couch surfing network. I'm not in one place long enough to really host much. My friends hosted people through the website, so I met a lot of awesome people that way.

Music, Movies, and Books

My list of music could go on forever, so I won't go deep into this, but basically I like checking out new bands and music I haven't heard of, as well as listen to my favorites.

Books - oh so many, but recent ones include Vagabonding by Rolf Potts, I Will not Die an Unlived Life by Dawna Markova, The Peaceful Warrior, The Universe in a Single Atom (the Dalai Lama), Memoirs of a Geisha, The Lord of the Rings series, and of course Harry Potter! Also a lot of educational books about yoga, quantum healing, science, history, the outdoors and backpacking, outdoor survival, and different life philosophies

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living, working and volunteering in New Zealand was one of the most rewarding and special experiences I've had thus far.

free flying in the sky, seeing the sun set and the moon rise simultaneously from above- turning 180 degrees to see one or the other while falling through the atmosphere. That particular jump was one of the most incredibly beautiful, peaceful, quiet and present moments I've had.
