I'm a Filmmaker, Designer and a Youth Worker in my home of Perth, Western Australia, hoping to one day work on feature films as a Cinematographer. I have a passion for travel and don't get to do it as often as I'd like to, so when I do travel I try to make the most of it! I love learning new things about different cultures and hearing other people's stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

All the usual reasons like wanting to make friends, experience cultures and learn new things, but I started using it because I'm currently travelling around Asia with two friends and I'll be visiting America by myself at the end of the year. Some places we're going on this tour of Asia we have no one to hang out with, so just keen to make new friends and have people to ask the millions of questions we have about new places!

Interests

I love travelling, experiencing different cultures and everything that's non-touristy. I try to do things that are unusual and different when I travel.

I enjoy good stories - films are a big one for me, but also some books and even video games. Documentaries are also a huge chunk of what I like to watch.

I love my job, building relationship with younger kids and being a mentor to them. Hearing their stories is always interesting and I believe sharing our stories is a vital part of being human!

I like to nerd out about technology (a bit too much sometimes).

As an artist I appreciate a good photograph and love powerful visuals.

I love good food and trying new things, even if they are a bit weird for me!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen mostly to pop punk music, weirdly enough. I loved it in high school and never grew up I guess. Here and there I like a bit of R&B, Neo Soul and Jazz, and very specific electronic music.

Movies is a hard one to pin down - it's too hard to pick an absolute favourite, but I love Sci-Fi a lot... Some of my favourites being Alien, Blade Runner, Star Wars, stuff like that. I love movies with directors such as David Fincher, Paul Thomas Anderson, Dennis Villeneuve and Nicolas Winding Refn, and great Cinematographers such as Roger Deakins, Robert Elswit, Jeff Cronenweth, and Hoyte Van Hoytema.

I wish I read more books, I mostly get into graphic novels, but not superhero stuff. I read a lot of Matthew Reilly when I was younger and am trying to get around to reading more classics to expand my creative horizons.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how a camera works, what makes a good photo/shot in a film. Or just how to tell a good story and the nuances of a good script and good characters. I can recommend so many great films!

I'd love to learn more about different cultures and experience life in other places.

I can also teach English pretty well and love learning new languages.
