ABOUT ME

I'm Elmer, 32 years and a medical biologist. I used to work for the Netherlands Cancer Institute and started a PhD. However, the enormous amount of stress that everyone was suffering from at work made me realize my own health was seriously affected by my desire to help others. I quit my PhD and took some time off to do thing that I like and start enjoying life again.

In my free time (I have a lot of that currently) I like to fix things and make things do where they were not designed for (electronic things in particular, the stranger the better). I also love to cook (vegetarian) and immensely enjoy baking sourdough bread and visit all the bakeries nearby and taste their breads.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to mee new people, in particular local people (as opposed to the hostel-people), to get to know the place that I am visiting better and to make friends. I have been couchsurfing in Norway, Sweden, Germany and Belgium and in all those countries I have made friends for life.

Interests

Bread baking, camping, hiking, cooking, cheese making and other fermentation based products, art-house movies, IT/networking and fixing things. And finally, I still love science.
