About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel as much as I can! I'm fortunate enough that I'm in a good position to do so right now. I want to explore the world, meet new people, learn as much as I can about everything.

ABOUT ME

I love to travel and meet new people. CouchSurfing is a great way to do both. I'm the kind of person that can just sit and enjoy a good view for hours. There's not much I enjoy more than a good hike on a mountain / forested path. I am always looking to try new things (foods especially) or see new sights. I have done a few trips to resorts in the typical tropical countries (Mexico, Cuba) but I am looking for more of an adventure with my next trip. I'd like to meet locals and get to know the city / country I am in and I feel one of the best ways to do that is through the people. I hope others feel the same way and so I plan on hosting as much as I can as well.

What's there to say? I'm just like anyone else. I like good foods, good wines, and I'm here to enjoy life the best I can while I can. Traveling, in my opinion, is one of the best ways to do that. There is so much to experience and see out there, it would be a shame to miss out on any of it. If I can help anyone out that's doing the same, all the better.

I'm an easy going laid back guy with a live and let live kind of attitude. There's nothing I won't try once. Love cooking, and always looking for ways to better myself.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life based on just a basic sense of right and wrong. Do unto others as you would like done to yourself type of deal. Live and let live. I like to have fun, but not at the expense of others. I live my life because I'm lucky enough to have one!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only just signed up for CouchSurfing. I initially did this because I am planning a trip to Australia next year and someone suggested this would be a good way to meet friends along the way and cut down on costs a bit. But looking through the website, I'd love to also be a host for people visiting my area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None - just some stories read on Reddit :P

Interests

I really enjoy hiking and am lucky enough to live in an area where there are a few options here. I spend a fair amount of time at the gym or playing squash (at the same gym).

I also enjoy some PC gaming (Dota 2 & Guild Wars 2 right now for anyone familiar). I'm part of a volunteer organization for St John Ambulance as a Medical First Responder. I currently work as an Ambulance Dispatcher / 911 Operator for my region here.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hard Rock is probably my favorite type of music, though I'll listen to anything (taken a liking to some classical and opera even recently). I like most action or comedy movies (Avengers was damn awesome).

One of my favorite TV shows was Whose Line Is It Anyway? I love fantasy sci-fi type books, some of my favorite series being The Wheel of Time, Malazan Empire; Book of the Fallen, some Forgotten Realms, Discworld. I love reading. My Kindle is probably my favorite gadget ever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen many beautiful sights in my life, having moved around a lot when I was younger, and have traveled a bit more recently. I have to say though that what 'awestruck' me the most, a turning point in my life, was when I was in Bangalore, India for 6 weeks for work. It was an amazing experience... seeing the people here, their attitude, how they live, the standard of life. The contrast from one side of the street to the other...

I attribute a lot of the person I became to that trip and that experience. Coming back to Canada once my job was done there, I can say with no hesitation that it was a turning point in my life for the better, and I have not looked back since.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I have quite a bit to share about my area here and am pretty well familiar with it. I'm bilingual with both French and English. I have been across Canada, had a world shattering experience in India and would love nothing more than to share those experiences with others.
