About Me

I'm a 22-year-old Political Science student from Belgium who wants to experience a more authentic way of traveling. I lived in the US for a year when I was 17, and living with a host family has taught me that you can really create tight bonds with strangers when they welcome you so kindly. Then I lived in Berlin for a while, and met people from all over Europe and farther ! As for now I am living in Canada with my grandfather, taking care of him and working. Since it is not my house I am unable to host but I hope to have a place of my own and welcome travelers someday !
I love music, both playing (I play the viola, and I can tickle a guitar and a piano) and listening, and I've been drawing and painting ever since I was a kid. I've always been around animals, especially horses and cats, and I am a vegetarian. I love cooking and eating a good meal, I enjoy a nice glass of wine or a good (Belgian) beer :D
I like discussing politics (since it's what I'm studying) and I am an active member of Amnesty International.
I also really love running and hiking, and my first (wonderful) Couchsurfing experience was in Glasgow, before hiking the WHW with a friend.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I go places I don't just want to see the sights but also meet people and learn to know a place from their point of view ! Also when I was younger my family and I took part in a network similar to couchsurfing, mainly in France, and we hosted people at my parents' house. It was a lot of fun, we met some really kind people and saw unique places (we stayed at a retired clown's, at old-fashioned bookbinders', etc...), and it made me want to continue doing it on my own. All my Couchsurfing experiences so far have been wonderful.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book since I was a kid has to be The Little Prince... I also adore The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera, I love poetry (especially Pablo Neruda's) and of course I'm a big fan of Harry Potter !
Movie-wise I don't have a favorite, but I really like going to small independent cinemas (would really recommend Le Vendôme in Brussels !!)
As for the music, I tend to be very eclectic and there's little I dislike ! I always go back to Leonard Cohen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Moldova for a student project for 10 days, discovered its very peculiar and moving history, met local people and students from several different countries, and survived an earthquake in Chisinau in an old decrepit Stalin-era hotel as plaster was falling from the ceiling and we though it was going to collapse... it was amazing !!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to crochet ! I can teach you French, Dutch, German and English obviously (this is actually one of the jobs I've had). I can teach you to play the viola, a bit of piano or guitar, to paint with watercolor, to cook some delicious meals...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will happily cook (vegetarian) meals, I'm always happy to paint a portrait or anything else, tell stories, sing or play music together, or even tell stories while playing music!
