About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Becoming a better me, having a good time, and taking care of my business
(ps: haven't had a whole lot of time these days, so I'm hosting but not hanging out/going out with guests as much as I'd like to. I'll help you plan out activities and all, but prob won't join. just a heads up)
ABOUT ME
I'm Elomar. Nice to meet you! :)
I was born and raised in Brazil, and lived in Natal, a nice city right by the beach. I won a scholarship to come study in the US for a year, and in July 2010 I left the country for the first time and moved to Oak Ridge, TN, with students from 10 other countries. That year was so sweet that in 2012 I got another scholarship and moved to the US again, this time to Nashville, TN. That second year was still very sweet, so I got another one that brought me to the Bay Area to do a masters. Now I'm back to the city I grow up in.
I'm a beginner regarding travel. I like to try all kinds of experiences, eat different foods, go different places. You'll almost never find me turning down an invitation.
I'm not really into sports, but I like riding a bike and hiking. I'm not a great talker, but I try to be a decent person.
There's much more about me, so invite me for a drink so we can share some stories :)
PHILOSOPHY
I am not sure about a 'philosophy.' I just want to be always becoming a better version of myself, and having a good time in the process.
And if there's something I like to share about my personal philosophy is that every year I have the same one new year's resolution: to make the year coming better than the year just gone. It's mostly working so far.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm still getting started, so I don't know exactly how I participate. The only thing I know for sure is that I want to engage with the nice people around here, learn about the world, and talk about the places I know :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed a few times in the US, hosted a few times, and always had a blast.
Interests
Oh, so many things. Some of them:
* Being close to the nature
* Bicycling
* Hiking
* Swimming
* Computers :)
* Most of the things I never heard of
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm really eclectic when it comes to music, movies and books, and I like a little bit of anything.
My favorites change very often, but right now that would be old school brazilian music (mutantes, novos baianos), comedy movies (Due Date made me laugh hard), and sci-fi (favorites are first Foundation trilogy and hitchhiker's guide).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Europe for two and a half weeks with nothing but a 19L backpack. I don't know why but I find that pretty cool.
Teach, Learn, Share
There are some things I could share, specially related to my field of study - Web development. If you want to learn something about computers, starting a web business, or something like that, maybe I can give you a hand.
I also can teach Portuguese and talk about Brazil, my home country.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Haiti, Italy, Netherlands, United States, Uruguay
Countries I’ve Lived In
Brazil, United States
