About Me

*First, i am messaged by five or more men a day to “chat.” I’m afraid I’m not here to make internet friends. I dont have time to help practice English. Please don’t message me unless you’re looking to couchsurf/hang out in my city. Get a tinder.*

My place is open Saturday - Tuesday morning. Currently only taking couch surfers from Switzerland who are willing to return the favor. I am starting my Masters in Luzern in September, but I live fulltime in Tyrol, Austria. My second apartment is in Salzburg, where I offer Couchsurfing swaps (swaps don’t need to take place at the same time). My course-load is small, like once or twice a week, sometimes more in the case of an orchestra project, and I’d rather spend it meeting new people than getting a third apartment or always staying in a hostel.

I’ll be happy to give you advice if you’re going to visit Salzburg—let me know if you’re here! 😄
I’ve been couch surfing long before I even knew Couchsurfing was a website! I believe it’s humanity’s duty to realize we are a global community. Why hate one another for our differences when we can celebrate them and educate each other?! I’m that person who travels alone because I want to meet new people. I’ve definitely taken rides from strangers, but they always end in new email addresses and Instagram profiles for my phone contacts. Feed me and I’m your best friend forever. I constantly try to support new venues and local businesses in my area. I consider myself a bubbly and energetic person, but I'm also pretty down to earth. It doesn’t mater what it is, I’m down to do it; let’s try new things! I believe in kindness like I believe in oxygen. Growing up with five younger siblings on a small farm in Pennsylvania makes you grow up a little faster than most, but I wouldnt change a thing. I have the travel bug bad and wish I could see the whole world. I'm a vocalist and pianist now studying to be an orchestra conductor. I love to sing in all styles, but I studied classically. I pride myself on getting along with almost anyone. I’m definitely an optimist. I’m not wild, just adventurous.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people and explore new places! My place is open Thursday midday - Tuesday morning. Currently only taking couch surfers from Luzern, Switzerland.

I want to appreciate the uniqueness of every person and experience. I'm a social person, and I truly believe there is good to be seen in everyone. We can learn from and teach each person we meet. When I meet others, I want them to leave my presence with a brighter light than they entered it. Maybe i’m a little naive for wanting to save the world one human at a time, but hey a smile goes a long way and costs nothing. I was in a bus crash in 2013 and was supposed to die, as in there should’ve been absolutely no way I remained alive let alone recover. 13 broken bones, two surgeries, and A miraculous recovery will show you each day is a gift. People ask me if I hold my philosophies due to almost dying, but I held them in the highest importance before the crash, and I think I that is why I survived. Life is meant to be lived!

Interests

3 am and you have the urge to check out the new sushi restaurant? Let’s go. What are the historic facts and landmarks of your city? Five minutes notice you want to go zip lining? Let me grab my harness. I’m interested in lots of things and experiencing new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I may have wanted to be an opera singer before becoming a conductor—classical music is my jam—but I love all music! Really and truly, I will attend any type of concert. A modern artist who I could listen to nonstop is Ingrid Michaelson. My favorite book is The Likeness by Tana French; my books of choice deal with fantasy, wizards, dragons, magic, quests etc (check out author Brandon Sanderson, the Shannara series, and the Mistborn trilogy), but this novel is a crime novel and it’s amazing and so well written. I recently made my way through a huge stack of Agathe Christie and am now reading all the Sherlock Holmes. Read the never ending story in the original German.
Love me some Disney movies, but I adore horror movies. Black Swan is a fave as is V for vendetta and Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium (I love Natalie Portman, but it’s actually a coincidence she’s in all of these) it goes without saying that I adore Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Star Trek (first gen and the newest movies).
My favorite story of all time is Peter Pan. Whether it’s a movie, book, spin-off, ballet, you name it, Peter Pan is my favorite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one?! In summer 2018 I travelled all of Germany and a lot of Austria for two months: Vienna, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Hannover, Hamburg, Munich, Salzburg, Berlin, Mannheim, Heidelberg, Karlsrühe, Fulda/Lauterbach/Angersbach, Linz, St Florian. I like to explore the Lake towns near Salzburg (Hallstatt, Fuschl am See, St Wolfgang, and Mondsee). After that, I vacationed in Corfu, Greece for 10 days. Swimming in the Mediterranean was a highlight of my life! Turkey was amazing. The people are my favorite part of traveling.

Teach, Learn, Share

My tips to travelers: fun fact about google maps - while it won’t work out of data, the satellite is always running. So, you can use it like a normal map and always see your own location as a blue dot. If you start a navigation while you’re in WiFi, it will continue that navigation outside of WiFi. Save things you’d like to see in your favorites, and they’ll always appear on the map. Also save things like grocery stores, pharmacies, and hospitals. Before I travel, I always google, traditional food of... and things to do in... I like hitting up the touristy things; they’re popular for a reason! But, take some time to wander aimlessly and get a little lost. Talk to a local!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm originally from the countryside of north-eastern Pennsylvania on the Eastern side of the USA. It was a 45 minute drive to the nearest mall or department store if you sped! I lived in the city of Cleveland for five years before I moved to Austria. So, I have a good amount of crazy stories and life lessons for a 26 year old! I like to be (well, I try to be) helpful and uplifting.
