About Me

HellooOoO !! i'm 23 and i'm from Québec ( grow up in a small fisherman village, and then moved to the city) so i'm a french canadian at first but i also speak english.
My friends call me Maïka, they will also say that i'm curious about everything and that i'm like a glitter...!

I've stopped studying years ago to make seasonal contracts/contractual jobs; construction "of exclos" for deer on an island, cooking in treeplanting camps, working on a sugar shack, foraging plants and wild fruits on the north coast of Quebec, selling christmas trees in New York, working on farms.
Working on contractual jobs allows me to explore such different backgrounds, to learn sooo much, but above all, to have moments to do what makes me "vibrate" (passionate me); Fishing, cooking and exploring flavors, making tincture and other "witch potions" with the plants I forage, go on expeditions (hiking, camping, boat, etc.), follow up training of all kinds. It also allows me to have a good balance; being in a city and the country side , I need a mixture of both! Alternate work, to gain knowledge and fun !

I've been vegan for 6 years (i'm a pro vegan-gluten free cook now ahahah), and then i moved back to the "countryside/rural area" where the reality is different and where being vegan is a city privilege (we can talk about it with pleasure). My thinking about it now is about not having a strict alimentation identity but more a respect/"thankfull" and a coherence with my food and my (living) environment.

I looOOOve swimming and hiking... OMG and cooking !

When I see a house or a building abandoned I cannot prevent me from going to explore it !

However, If you are only here to flirt or trying to get laid, don't even bother please. Every single girl I met in Couchsurfing have suffered uncomfortable situations with guys, which is quite sad. Then you wonder why most of the Couchsurfing community are boys? cause we are tired of being harassed. As easy as that.

Some peoples tend to send mas request. If you read this profile, see that we share some interest and would like to know me a bit more, please do introduce yourself with your texture (yes yes texture). This way, I'll recognize a friend and way more consider your request by the interest you show in choosing couch surfers with whom you feel a link. I might not be available to host you, but I'll at least tend to answer way faster (usually inside 48 hours).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I met 2 of my best friends on Couchsurfing years ago ! I'm currently in France right now to visit Manon i met 3 years a go here, who came in Quebec to visit me the following year... One of my strongest friendship !
Couchsurfing and hitchhiking are the best ways i found to travel, learn and meet people !

Couchsurfing is a friend that you don't know you already have!!!

Interests

I LOVE water; in another life I was probably a mermaid... or a whale.
I'm kind of a ginger, peanut butter, lavender and GLITTERS addict <3
I use and still learn phytotherapy (how to use plants and their medicinal benefits) to take care of myself and look after those which I like. I also do my own (homemade) toothpaste, my sunscreen, deo and my moisturizer, tincture, herbal oil, name it ! And I just learned how to craft notebooks.
LooOove to do outdoor activities, always up for camping, hiking, biking, swimming, spin, twirl EVERYTHING!

Honestly i'm like the perfect blend between a city gurl and a bush gurl ! I know how to fish, hunt, trap, forage and harvest. I dance on country, ragtime, and folk music. I like pickup and snowmobile ahahahah I'M NOT AFRAID TO GET DIRTY !
But i loooOve visiting art museums, performance ("art actuel), litterature and poetry,
I'm always ready for a dance party, especially if it's a thematic party ! Bonus if there is glitters !
I do appreciate sober spaces :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the chance to hitchhike with my MOM 💕 many times !!

For me the most amazing thing is the chance I have to explore and to get to know my own territory ! Walking in the taïga and harvesting wild plants, know how to use/cook them, same with fishing, ice fishing on the north shore, learning how to trap in show shoes, cutting woods on a snowmobile, canoeing around the whales, listening to my Innus (native) friends and learn from them, swimming in the bioluminescent phytoplankton like if I was swimming in the stars, winter camping... sooO many things
I’m so exited and grateful if I can do the same in a new territory / country !

I have so many adventures I didn't know which one to choose... This one of hundred ahahahahah

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge about foraging plants (but i know quebec and canadian tho) and cooking them.
Some stories about my trips, backpacking, works.
I can show you how to do your notebook !
How to live doing dumpster diving !
I would like to learn about your culture, your town and country stories.
Your favorite thing to do in all the things in the world !?
What make you smile !?
Actually i do so many things that we will find something for sure !
