About Me

PLEASE READ THIS, is the minimum you should do if you want me to host you, don't you think? ;)
Asking you to read my profile to see if we click and please mention my cats because You Must Be a Cat Lover To Stay With Me :)
Also I'm not excited when people send copy paste messages to a bunch of hosts with me included, hoping to get a free place to sleep/accomodation. That is not the couchsurfing idea and is not the way I see this!
So just to say that in those cases is probable that I won't even answer therefore my not 100% response rate. In the summer I get several requests per day, just have no time to answer them all, specially not interesting ones. So yeah I am picky with the people I spend my time with, since I can't host or meet everybody, is fair enough that I must choose right?
ALSO I don't host male couchsurfers travelling solo without references
ALSO for now I prefer to host people over 25 years old

It's difficult to put myself in words... I'm so simple and same time so complex :)

Animal rights activist. All animals, not only cats and dogs

Human rights defender and anti prejudice, misogyny, racism, homophobia and transphobia.

Make the world a better place as much as you can :)

Vegans and vegetarians are specially VERY welcome and a joy to meet, as I am one. This means that is not ok for you to bring dead animals into my home, please. Animals are friends to me, not food.

Love this quote:
"In this temple you are allowed to be yourself without any inhibitions. I would like this to happen all over the world. This is only the beginning. Here, start living moment to moment totally and intensely, joyfully and playfully and you will see that nothing goes out of control; that your intelligence becomes sharper; that you become younger; that your love becomes deeper. And when you go out into the world, wherever you go, spread life, playfulness, joy, as far away as possible to every nook and corner of the earth." by Osho

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The sharing :)

When I host is like I travel a bit, even staying in my own place, in the normal everyday life.
When I'm being hosted is for sure the best way to travel, as I consider myself a traveler not a tourist, so meeting locals is very important to me.

Interests

Animals. I started in 2008 an animal organization in my city that rescue cats and dogs. I slowed down on my rescuing because of several reasons, but will always rescue animals when posible :) I am now focused on street vegan activism, organizing Anonymous for the voiceless actions to spread awareness.

Travel, of course!

I like to be active and do things. Like to move and have a walk around, travel whenever posible and know more. about people, world and cultures.

Some things I enjoy/I'm interested: camping, climbing, hiking, geocaching, surfing, diving, figure/ice skating, rollerblade skating, snowboarding, yoga, meditation, oriental dance, hip hop dance, photography, urbex (exploring abandoned buildings), shamanism, adventures and challenges, playing my handpan, etc etc

I like reading about spirituality, assertiveness, mindfulness, travelling, books for the soul.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like thrillers with some good suspense and non predictable, specially if they have an ending twist. Some comedies, not the ones that makes easy laughs and with a stupid argument. Some romantic movies, but not that corny or romantic comedy movies, romance with a deep story behind. Don't like action movies with only guns and chasing cars or about war. Anyway I am totally out about what's going on in the movies lately, but if you have any sugestions where you learn something, not only to entertain would be good. I don't watch Tv.

Music: Songs that make me feel like "man I could have write this song". That I feel related. I appreciate good lyrics, but I appreciate also a good melody, that doesn't need words. Also specially songwriter and acoustic type of music. World/ethnic music, folk music. Percussion. In fact this is what I listen more lately. And spitirual music, mantras and binaural.
A street musician/busker will always get my attention and get to know him/her. I can say I love many types of music.

Books: I wish I have more time to read or feel calm enough to do it. When I was living in Lisbon I used to read a lot on transports. Now I'm reading ocasionally some books about assertiveness, mindfulness, social relationships and psichology. Osho and Eckart Tolle are great. Travel books (not guides) is something I also enjoy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Becoming vegetarian, then vegan. Best decision ever! For the animals, my health and the environment.

Well for one of the most fantastic experience is to rescue abandoned animals and do my best to find good homes for them. I've found new families for more than 200 animals since 2008. Recently had the chance to rescue ducklings, chicks and a rabbit from a fire close the farm they were, which means at the same time saved them from being killed for food, they are happy and safe rehomed by people who will never kill them.

TNR, Trap, Neuter, Return programs meaning catching feral cats to sterilise in the vet, to control population and release them back to their freedom is such a rewarding and amazing feeling too.

Hitchiked more than 200kms while travelling alone in Ireland and Northern Ireland and was awesome!

I've been in a high class moroccan wedding in Marrakech thanks to Houda who kindly invited for her cousing wedding. It was a super experience and felt very welcomed even in my jeans dancing with the women with beautiful dresses and sparkling belts :)

Solo train trip in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Czech Republic.

Ayahuasca cerimony and it was very meaningful and beautiful.

20kms hike trough abandoned trainline in North Portugal since 1985. Quite an impressive construction and challenge for a 19th century construction. 20 tunnels (some bats) and 10 very high bridges, not apropriate if you're scared of heights or falling, since some are quite narrow to walk trough.

Swimming naked for couple of seconds in Munich river in February! Never been in such cold water.

Volunteering and donating tooth brushes to burmese kids. My job area is children healthy smiles :)

Rescuing some ducklings, chicks and a rabbit, happily and safe rehomed so will never be killed. After spending all night evacuating dozens of the from a fire with a group of friends.

Cooked for a full weekend retreat for 15 people, which was challenging but loved it. Being vegan made me find a love for cooking and eating, that I never had before.

Teach, Learn, Share

Get to know me, talk about life and spirituality, can play with my cats, talk about animals rescuing, we can share travelling stories, cook vegan meals (can you teach me your vegan cheese recipes?), I can show around if time available so weekends is better.

I am an handpan player. Love this magical pans. If I let you play my instrument you need to be very carefull with it, but I am happy to get you try it :)

And I'm up for any of my interests above of course :)

Are you dealing with a close family relative with Alzheimer disease?
Looking to share experiences and support...

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I wrote above, a cosy private bedroom, can show around Portimão and Alvor, and during weekends maybe Monchique mountains, Lagoa beaches, Sagres cliffs or the west coast where there is a natural park and is more wild and nature and less tourism, I'm always up to go there. Always in to go surfing in the west coast at weekends if summer, or closer in Praia da Rocha if winter.
Please be considerate that if I'm spending my car fuel would be kind if you help with fuel costs or something to drink/eat. To me is common sense is what I do while being hosted by others, so be considerate too.

During winter sometimes I go to Lisbon for the weekend often, where my family have an apartment and you can come with me if I drive my car up and eventually stay.
