About Me

Hi there! I'm Elsa, a queer creative currently travelling through Central Europe and Italy. I have just finished a pre-master in Anthropology and Development Studies and before starting the master I want to explore a bit more of Europe by myself. Next to studying, I have been active in climate and social justice activism since 2020 and I am always happy to share ideas about politics, the climate crisis and our dreams for a more just world. I like drawing and painting, spending time in nature, and reading, all while drinking lots of tea. I love taking long hikes, tree climbing and dancing until I drop dead. During my travels, I'm mainly interested in visiting museums, going on day hikes, exploring cafes and getting to know a bit of the local alternative scene, but I won't shy away from the occasional party or spontaneous adventure either.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I'm travelling, I would love to share a glass of wine with you, hear your recommendations and do something back for you while staying at your place. I like the possibility of ending up in uncommon places and having interesting conversations. The idea of sharing what you have also fits my world view. I'm grateful for a community like this to exist. Additionally, I can get overwhelmed quite easily, and therefore only staying at hostels during my 3-month travels, would exhaust me quite a bit. Finding a more quiet place at people's homes is something I would really appreciate. I'm looking forward to getting to know you!

Music, Movies, and Books

Most of the time I listen to melancholic indie, but I can also really appreciate folksy tunes, poppy 2000s songs and rock classics. I watch just about anything, but queer indie movies with a retro vibe truly win me over. And I love Stranger Things! I mostly read contemporary fiction, but I also like non-fiction that teaches me something new, science fiction exploring interesting ideas and the occasional romance story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With a close group of friends I hiked up a mountain in one day and wild camped somewhere at the top. I'm not the most sporty person ever, so realising I could do that was one of the most amazing things I've ever felt.

Teach, Learn, Share

With quite some experience, I can share my knowledge on climate and social justice, activism, (social) design, art, interculturality and politics. I'm always happy to have deep conversations on societal topics. If you want to get into a new creative hobby I might also be of help. I can share my skills in drawing, painting, sewing, embroidery and crocheting.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to cook a (vegan) meal for you! I can sew any broken clothes back together, paint you something beautiful or, if you are into it, read tarot for you. Additionally, if you need any help with setting up a computer or smartphone, I can help out! I also know how to set up a website, email, social media account etc.
