ABOUT ME

I grew up between two countries - my father in Sweden and my mother in England, and so from a young age travel was a part of my life. I was very lucky and visited some amazing places with my mother - India, Cambodia, Laos, Senegal and Gambia. When I left home I studied languages at university which meant I could go abroad as part of my studies and so I lived on the French island La Reunion and in Austria. After my studies I worked solidly for 10 months to save money and then travelled through Central and South America, starting in Mexico and ending in Bolivia. As you can tell I'm addicted to exploring, learning new languages, and making friends over yummy food and a few drinks!

Now I'm settled in London and I'm about to pursue a career as a police officer. I want to eventually be a SOIT Officer - a special investigator who helps victims of sexual crimes...I want to help people basically! So this means I can't wander the world full time, but I am still using my holidays to see new places. This year I have been to Naples in Italy and to my family's house in Lapland, northern Sweden (built by my grandfathers own hands with no running water and a sauna by the river), and in September I am going to a wedding in Israel!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My mother was the person who first introduced me to couchsurfing! I was moving to the French island La Reunion to study for 6 months and rather than staying in university accommodation I wanted to live with people from the island, but this meant I couldn't organise anything until I arrived on the island...so for my first week while I was looking for a place to live I used couchsurfing. I was hosted by a lovely couple who helped me so much I can never thank them enough! They introduced me to the beautiful island, listened to my broken French and cooked delicious food.

Since then I used couchsurfing in Austria to meet friends when I was a lonely foreigner in a new place and then went on to host people in Southampton.

Now I am visiting Israel and the Palestinian Territories and I am eager to stay with couchsurfing hosts there for that experience you don't get staying in hostels. I want to meet locals who can tell me their stories and then come and visit me in London!
