first time traveling solo with the aim of becoming a better person and teacher for my kids

ABOUT ME

after 6 years of intense schooling, i'm taking a break this summer before i begin my career as a high school english teacher in OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.

i've been described as a LOVE REVOLUTION because i am ever the optimist and have a knack for finding the good in people. this quality, which manifests itself both in the way i smile at and love on everyone as well as serve as a fierce advocate for the people, has led me to teaching. teaching kids in the 'hood is my calling, and i am preparing myself for it this summer through traveling.

this is a summer of firsts for me: first time traveling solo, first time in asia (currently in korea, which i've fallen in love with), first time in europe, first time living in a buddhist temple.... the idea is to build my confidence, expand my knowledge and experiential base, and have a damned good time before i dive into the chaos that is first-year teaching.

friendly, lighthearted, in(ter)dependent, and adventurous, i'm looking for people to roam the earth with.

i'm all about stories and exploring. i want to learn yours, and i hope we can carve out some of our own!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

i lived in a castle in connecticut (possibly america's only castle?) for five years. i have swum through the freshwater cenotes (underground water caves) in yucatan, mexico. i have taught and will teach wild teenagers in OAKLAND, california. i just spent three days studying buddhism and senmudo martial arts at the golgulsa temple in south korea.
