About Me

Hey! I'm an epidemiologist & science journalist currently based in Atlanta. I love exploring, sports, eating & great music.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always heard wonderful stories about people met & adventures had via Couchsurfing. The people one meets on a trip are almost always more exciting and memorable than the places visited or food eaten.

Interests

Sports: Baseball & tennis, all water sports (kayaking, sailing, white water rafting). I like hiking but am pretty slow at scaling mountains and such.

The Arts: I love all types of dance and entertain myself by ineptly imitating [I'm decently clumsy, so it's a lot of falling down]. I adore theater + literature, and am always up to see a new show or performance! My favorite work I've ever seen was The Pillowman in Dublin in 2015 - I was blown away by the staging and narrative.

I'll eat just about anything happily, at least once. Even if I don't like something, I can be easily bribed with ice cream.

Music, Movies, and Books

Personally, I don't have a FAVORITE anything - it completely depends on my mood and the time. That being said, here's a taste of my opinions right now:

Music: Alternative & Indie Rock, which honestly includes most things now according to the media. Foster the People, Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot, JR JR, Young the Giant, Kishi Bashi

Movies: I'm all over the map, from Wes Anderson to Aziz Ansari. I like thrillers and comics (Usual Suspects, Watchmen) as well as satires and sentimental thought-provokers.

Books: Similar with movies, I really like dystopian fiction, both new [Maze Runner, Blindness] and old [1984, Fahrenheit 451, Fight Club]. I like wordplay and cleverness a lot, so any wry or witty writer will steal my heart. Jonathan Safran Foer, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Haruki Murakami are all amazing and should be read by everyone!

Teach, Learn, Share

For better or for worse, I'll ask a ton of questions about anything and everything. I try to leave most conversations knowing a little bit more than I started!
