To reclaim our lives & build a new dream and a tiny house together.
ABOUT ME
Em has recently changed his name from Matthew to Em.
We are partners working to build a dream together. We have hit the wall so to speak. We can no longer hold the balance of paying rent in the Bay Area with the wages we are being paid. So we have decided to change the rules. We are going to build a tiny house. We aren't able to save up for this while paying rent. So we are taking rent off the table. However, we still need shelter at night. We are hoping to piece that together through friends and family in the area, house sitting gigs, and the awesome couchsurfing community.
We are singers, songwriters, visual artists, fiber artists, seekers of the soul, and we are trying to walk a path of transformation and wholeness.

PHILOSOPHY
Alillia: All beings deserve freedom of choice, support, love, acceptance, and a safe place to be all of who they are.
Em: All things are connected and interdependent on one another. This is one of the many reasons why love is so deeply important. Freedom belongs to all beings and the freedom of each being should be handled with loving care. Community and the intentional acknowledgement of interdependence as a way of living are powerful healers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Em was a surfer a couple years ago. He surfed for about a month and a half in the bay area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The couchsurfing community was a major foundation of support when he moved to Oakland before he got settled and found a place to rent. He was hosted by amazingly generous people and is still grateful for how much support he received.
Interests
All things regarding the creative process: food, music, art, hand made things, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
Alillia: BOOKS - Hafiz and Rumi have been splitting me open recently. a fantasy book called "The Blue Sword is the only book I have ever read twice. I love science fiction and fantasy and just books in general. Some of my favorite authors are Mercedes Lackey, Caroline Myss.
MOVIES - "Amelie" Absolutely loved that movie. I don't watch horror movies, never, ever. Anything else depends on my mood.
MUSIC - MaMuse, Ben Harper, Nickel Creek, Radiohead, Lauryn Hill, India.Arie, Lizz Wright, Darius Rucker Ngaiire Joseph, Sweet Honey In the Rock, Kimya Dawson, Asa, Micheal Franti, Bill Withers, Jack Johnson.
Em: BOOKS - I don't read much but some authors I'm interested in are Arny Mindell, Martin Prechtel, and Paulo Freire.
MOVIES - Antonia's Line, Shadows and Fog, Crooklyn, You and Me and Everyone We Know, Akira Kurosawa's "Dreams", Topsy Turvy, I Heart Huckabees, Tekkonkinkreet, Princess Mononoke, The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain, No Impact Man, 180 Degrees South: Conquerors of the Useless, Half The Sky.
MUSIC - Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, MADLIB, J Dilla, MF DOOM, Blackstar, Lauryn Hill, Bela Bartok, Erik Satie, Beethoven, Gretchen Parlato, Mamuse, Josephine Foster, Bon Iver, Little Dragon, Radiohead, Cocorosie, Tom Waits, Bjork, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, etc. I also love field recordings of traditional folk musics of indigenous peoples, and classical forms of music from other countries such as Gagaku (Japan), Indian Classical Music (both Hindustani and Karnatic), Mbira music of the Shona people, as well as the music which lives inside of me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Alillia has traveled across the country singing with her siblings and she thinks that was pretty awesome.
Em thinks life is definitely one amazing thing in itself.
