About Me

I am an aspiring writing married to a computer geek and we are in the midst of a 14-month traveling adventure.

I love to hike in the countryside, get lost in the cities, picnic with the local foods, and just generally bask in the cultural experiences. An observer by nature, I love to be out and about during the day, immersing myself in a place. But, by the evening, I am usually ready to be with people, hanging out, swapping stories and sharing food and wine.

For me, traveling and experiencing the world is an expression of joyful living and I hope that I can share my joy with those people I encounter during my journeys.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Before when I travelled, I spent a lot of time staying in hostels or camping. But during this current trip, I have had the opportunity to stay with locals through AirBnB and HelpX. I have been able to spend time with some amazing and fun people and have learned so much about their neighborhoods. Couchsurfing will help me to meet more locals instead of just foreign travelers, to be inspired by new perspectives and personalities, and to learn the "secrets" of each place I visit!

Interests

I studied literature and creative writing at university: it didn't get me a job but I certainly enjoy some passionate conversation on both topics!

I love food, cooking, baking, preserving, perusing cookbooks for inspiration and just generally experimenting in the kitchen. I am a coffee addict. I enjoy gardening and am a huge fan of locally produced and sustainable foods.

Some other things I enjoy: crafty things, photography, learning guitar, traveling, dancing, people-watching

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Leaving everything behind to travel for 14 months has been a pretty amazing experience! Every day we make a new memory. Some moments that stick out are cliff jumping in Italy, hiking Helvellyn in the UK Lake District, a close encounter with an echidna in Tasmania, and camping in the Outback under an endless Milky Way.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share stories, fun times and a homemade meal.

I am always looking for literature recommendations and new recipes to try. I also love hearing about your own adventures and what you love about your homeland!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a tidy and respectful guest with a genuine interest in learning and exploring. I would love to share conversation and a meal with you, and I am more than happy to cook - made from scratch pizza is my go-to!
